how to check if you put the primary fuel rain in correctly

how do you check if you put the primary fuel rain in correctly. would putting it in incorrectly not allow the engine to start? i know there would be a huge airleak but it should still start or attempt to start right?

in anycase, i recently replaced the fpd and i cant seem to get my car started. the starter is spinning very fast and started to sputter but then it just stopped and it the engine just spins and spins wiht the starter only. i can hear the compression strokes from the exhuast and they seem even (car was running nicely before i took it apart so i doubt it popped in the 3 weeks where it was apart). im gonna check fuel and spark tomorrow, ran out of sunlight and energy today.

I don't think you can put it in wrong, it will only fit one way.Just make sure you put the plastic spacer back in that goes between the rail and the housing.

Was the rail tight when you put it back in? The fuel rail sits on those two rubber grommets and the plastic spacer under the bolts. When you have it bolted in it should not move around. Did you preasurize your fuel system and check for leaks around the fuel rail? Did it hold fuel preasure over night?

When I did my primary fuel rail some how I ended up with a flooded engine after reassembly. I had to go through the unflooding procedure and it started fine.

You may want to check your electrical hook-ups as you reassembled things, including whether you have the injectors plugged in right.

What is this plastic spacer that goes between the rail and the housing? Ive never had/seen one. Can I just use washers...but it fits w/out a spacer and didnt used to leak.
