How can you tell if the O2 sensor is bad? (visual)?

I had to remove the downpipe and since I have the 02 sensor out I was wonder how to tell if its good or bad. I had some weird reading on my Autometer A/F Guage thsu why Im wondering.

You should see lot's of white res on the sensor. Other than that something is foul.

what was your autometer showing? those things do bounce around alot depending on your driving.

I understand when your under 3200 rpm that in goes into loop cycle but it read lean and i felt the car stuttering when I would just cruise ( as in hold a constant speed). The look of it is a bit on the white/slight brown.

my autometer does the loop as you said and under acceleration shows rich

Hell yes. Stock O2 is worthless in terms of telling if you're rich or lean. Might as well stick your face behind the exhaust and see if you can smell gas.

Dont have the cash for a wide band, yet either way I could easily tell that something fuel wise was happening , when it showed off the charts lean when I would cruise. The thing would buck and jolt like if I were going on and off the throttle.

Bosch Universal O2 Sensor part # 11027

You'll need to splice to your stock wire to keep the connector. Piece of cake. Did mine in about 30 minutes start to finish.
