How can I tell if I have a Mana or Denso AC system?

I need to replace one of my AC hard pipes which has a hole in it...

in the 94 FD parts directory, it lists part numbers for a Mana system and Denso system...

I didn't realize there was a difference until I recieved an incorrect part...

How can I tell which unit type I have?

? maybe they are different for 134 vs r12. call malloy and ask ray how to check. denso usually puts a stamp on the compressor itself

Man, I used to know that! One is also considered "port installed" and one "Japan installed". I think the color of the receiver/dryer (the small AC can with the window in the nose of the car) is one way to tell. If it's silver, it's one system, if it's black, it's the other.

Yeah, I'd just call Malloy and see if they can tell you what to look for, then you can get the part from them.

There is 2 different type of a.c system for the fds, black dryer = port installed, silver dryer = factory installed. Also be aware that the port installed lines ic ompletely different from the factory installed. I found out the expensive way. Also which lines is leaking for u? I got 1 line that run acroos the engine bay I think the expansion valve is on it. Also I have an extra a.c condensor for factory installed and black dryer available. khris

What he said.

Aluminum dryer up by the IC is one, and the steel painted black is the other. I think the black one is the MANA. For 93s Base and R1s have MANA.

No.

Black = port install

Silver = factory install

Since MANA stands for Mazda xxx North America I'd guess that you have a MANA system if your dryer is black.

Is your car a 93? How do you know it was a Touring if it isn't a 93?

hmmm

mine was a 94 PEP in montego blue...second owner...says it on the title. Glass sunroof, one oil cooler, bose in the back, leather seats...

My mechanic works for the mazda dealer here and called in my VIN. He said it was a denso.

He also said that most "tourings" were Denso.....

eh I'll try to call Ray Crowe in the morning.

oh and another thing

the incorrect pipe that I ordered was part FD15-61-466 Pipe no. 3, cooler (in the parts catalog, both the MANA and Denso have the same part numbers...)

on the ID tag it says Mazda north american ops....so does that mean MANA?

again, this pipe doesnt fit my AC system

if so then

black dryer = Denso

PEP should have MANA, your car is a Touring with those options...

Silver is on the touring. The A/C lines look the same except the threads are metric on one and the other has stardard english threading. I have it written down someplace after I messed with it seemingly forever.

Michael, my bottle is black and a touring....its not silver.

I spoke to Ray Crowe and he said ALL tourings are Denso.

However, my friend just emailed me and stated that even the Mazda dealer here in Dallas confused his parts after running a VIN check....he told me it's a Mana

crap...this sucks....

Yeah, I have a denso system on my '93 touring with my dryer being silver... not black. I'm absolutely positive that silver=denso and black=mana.

Yea, touring are all japanese air. The r1s and base models had ac installed at the ports when they came from overseas. Unfortunately the japanese air parts are alot more expensive.

OK my car is a MANA...

black dryer = mana

touring??? = mana?

regardless I ordered the part from mazdacomp and took a chance.

The mana part they had over 30 in stock, the equivelant Denso needed to be drop shipped in.

Price for MANA part via mazdacomp:
FD16-61-46x Pipe No. $ cooler $67.60
