How Bad is it to not have a Gas Filter in-Line of the MAP Sensor?
How Bad is it to not have a Gas Filter in-Line of the MAP Sensor?
How Bad and are there any negative side effects of doing this short term? ANybody have experience with this?
sorry to stir this up.
but is a check valve and gas filter different? common sense says yes, but there is an arrow on the gas filter. Woud a check valve not be able to stop oil's?
reason why I'm asking is, I blew into mine and it goes both ways even though theres an arrow on it - so I'm looking for a replacement and figured when I go to the auto store I would like to know this information before hand.

I saw the arrow and it really made me wonder... cause I know the function of the MAP sensor... so it didnt make sense to me. I figured previous owner switched mine with a factory check valve(maybe why my boost hits 2psi and vacuum isnt consistant).
when I took mine off it blows out both ways and rattles something inside of it (guessed it was broken). The arrow is on there so I checked my manual and figured someone on the boards would know.

I think the arrow is on the gas filter so that it doesn't get reinstalled backwards. Because if that happened the side toward the MAP would be dirty and foul the sensor anyway.
