280-330? Should easily make the 280 with your mods, but not so sure after that.

you're gonna need to do a lot of research. i'd say start off reading the FAQ's section, and also check out the single-turbo section of the forums to find your answer about the turbo upgrade.

^^ Yep what he said. Go to the 5th stickied thread on the main page of the 3rd Gen section and read, read, read.

How much boost are you running? Has the car been tuned for your boost levels. A turbo rotary is not tolerant at all of running too much boost. Especially with a full open exhaust. Popping and banging sounds like you could be having detonation already which is the quickest way to a blown motor.

Why would you be thinking of a "big single turbo" when you aren't even taking advantage of what you have now? You could easily be making 40-50 more rwhp by upgrading the fuel system and running more boost (and having the PFC tuned).

is it popping 2-3 times in between shifts when you are at WOT? or just popping all of the time?

Either way you need to tune your PFC.

if it's during WOT you are just runing a little too rich. If it's poping like that all of the time then you absolutely need a tune because you are in danger of excessive carbon build up on the rotor housings. Which means premature engine failure.

well sometimes it doesnt pop when it does its all the way through the rev range more noticable at low revs or high, lets say it pops for 2 minutes stops for ten in a cycle, sometimes once sometimes twice now sometiems three times between shifts or backing off the accelerator. the compression test was mid sevens (500rpm?) after the car had been driven quickly for an hour

You need a serious tune. That should be your #1 priority at this point. Backfiring like that is not even close to normal.

You'll get six hundred, seventy-three, point 267 horsepower exactly with those mods.

Sounds like rich backfiring from having an open exhaust and a bit raggedy tune, that's all.

oh cool didnt see that last one, is it possible that they made it run really rich low down the revs and at the top to get rid of a flat spot? or some kind of sensor is acting up intermittently? i thought these things running a lil rich is good as long as it aint running lean?

get it tuned then worry about power... if you get a good tune you will make more power, but your number 1 concern should be sorting the engine out, not making more power, if you are having problems.

since you're talking quid, i guess you're in the UK.

There are a few people on this board from the UK that can guide you to the right people. One is Bobfish. Also check out the regional forums for a specialist that can properly tune the RX7 or at least give a look.

The specialist said the popping was because of the air pump still being connected and the air was igniting in the ex system, oh and he tuned my pfc and it still pops the same,

could i really get another 50hp from my rx7 with the current set up, with fueling mods, from what i have read the turbos wont take much more before they are at thier max.
