Yeah, the fuse box is a bit of a dilemma. I haven't really started planning the installation. I have all winter.

You're right about the piping, as they're mostly straight and short. Look on http://www.burnsstainless.com/

On other projects I have used cardboard to make a template duct to get a good fit, then used the cardboard to cut out either thin aluminum or stainless sheet. There is a store in town near work that sells scrap sheet metal. Thin stock is hard to weld, so I may consider riveting it together.

I think it will be very important to insulate the duct, especially along the bottom to help prevent heat soak. I may use a double wall construction along the bottom with insulation in between.

I'll take a few pictures of the IC and post them so you can see it. It's pretty nice.

Yeah pic will be good. Im thinking abt using aluminum for the ducts also but did not know where to start, cardboard is a good idea. check out this link http://www.efini.net/duct.htm Also do you think with a sharp enough angle on the pipe one may be able to use a strut tower brace?

You can see there are tapped blocks that can be used to attach brackets. I'm really pleased with my purchase. The UPS Ground shipping was about $15 and they shipped immediately. Ordered Monday, had it Thursday.

Anyone have pics/links of HMIC installations, particularly ducting? I know Knight Sports did one, as I have an article from Oct/Nov 1998 'Sports Car International'. But I think their HMIC is a v-mount with the radiator...

I dont think SR ever finished the HMIC project and never sold the complete kit complete. I remember calling them abt 6months ago and they had the pipes but no ducts for the HMIC.

What did the kit sell for originally?

Did you notice the oval stainless pipes at http://www.burnsstainless.com/ ? They would allow more clearance if it's needed.

gohorns: you getting one?

I'm trying hard not to get into this project, I'm looking at a used M2 med and SR stock replacement. If I cant get Something finalized by tonite I will be calling SR monday. I know the duct for the HMIC is what will kill me.

By the way those oval pipes are cool, we have an attachment at the shop for the pipe bender machine that can make the pipes oval but not as clean as those.

Well, if you do, I'll let you know what I figure out. First brackets, then pipes, and finally a duct.

Maybe they started with 3 of them in stock

Let's not lose sight of the fact that they discontinued this item (so apparantly there wasn't a whole lot of interest to SR). I heard it's because they had problems getting the carbon fiber ducts. But if there was enough interest, they probably would have found another supplier. Maybe it just didn't work. Who knows?

I will make this thing work. I think the HMIC is a good idea. I'd bet money it's far more effective than the stocker.

Again, if anyone has pictures of HMIC installations/ducting, it would really help.

Anybody know what the whole kit sold for originally?

Not really. The only reason I considered this one is I wanted a HMIC and it was new for $399.

That one's $1450.

I got one, rx7even got one, how about gohorns?

We should keep eachother updated on progress... It will probably result in better installations for all of us.

Good luck!

hey guys im currently working on a HMIC myself. Im trying to make it look like the one CWR motorsports sold for a bit. I originally was very interested in the one you all bought but the core was bugger on the other one IM going with and teh ducting seems to make more sense. the big change from mine to yours is my back sits lower than teh front of the IC.
I have a site that is just filled with pictures Ill post it tomorrow when I fing the bookmark
