Homemade gaskets?

I'm in the process of deleting all the emissions crap. The problem is that all the gaskets are cracked and falling to pieces so I was wondering if any one here has made their own gaskets before? If so, how did you do it and what materials did you use?

if you already have the block off plates you can just use hi temp RTV or any good gasket material you can buy from the parts store . buy the sheet and cut it the shape of the block off plates.

Mazda switched some of the old paper gaskets over to metal ones. Depending on which gaskets you are referring to, it would be better to by new ones.

Buy new gaskets - block off plates are one of those things that you should be able to bolt on once and never have to worry about again.

The ACV gasket and AWS gasket are now metal, EGR is still paper, but the Mazda gasket works just fine. Get new gaskets, put it on there, and never worry about it. Many handmade gaskets blow out or don't seal properly, causing boost or vacuum leaks that can be hard to track down.

If you don't to buy new gaskets, try "The Right Stuff". This gasket maker is unbelievable. I've used it on many applications with no problems. Stop by your local auto parts store and read the can, it does everything they say.

I've used it as a exhuast manifold gasket for my boat when the dealer wanted 100 bucks for it. Never had an exhuast leak or blow out. It's the real deal.

Hehhh Hehhh Dale speak for your own gaskets. I've made all my own for block off plate as well as various coolant gaskets out of the rubberized gasket material and 5 years now no failure.
