home made/ custom modifications...?

who here has attempted to make their own custom modifications and what not?

Pretty much anything, i mean more like interior and exterior, but also performance and mechanical too.

For some reason ive had a crazy idea to make a mold of the hatch and make a fiberglass hatch.

Any custom centerconsoles or things like that.
i read the guys thread about making custom sleek lights, thats freakin cool if you ask me.

Idk, for some reason, lately ive been atempting to think sorta outside the box...

lol

I have made a good number of custom parts but others have lots of custom stuff compared to me. As for your hatch idea that would be difficult and I believe there already is a fiberglass hatch you can buy.

yea but how much is a fiberglass hatch,

ive just got the crazy idea, i could make a mold and fiberglass it, ive done it before with things like kick panels, dashes, speaker boxes, the panel above trunks that have speakers in them

but other modifications? for some reason i kinda want to redesign a new center console since mine if fubared,

idk, stuff like this goes through my mind when i am at work sitting on a computer all night acting like i am listening to the trainer...

lol, i just like things different, not riced out, but simple and clean. Im was working on a homade storage bin, but i got to lazy

Go to it and post your results. Making a hatch would be difficult though and why bother when you can buy one:

I,ve made my own custom FMIC then V-mount then back to FMIC + al the alloy plumbing, pod filter setup, front Rad and air dam, engine torque brace plus some other minor stuff.

I agree it would be pretty hard to mould a rear hatch and easier to just by one, but where's the fun in that??
I like a good balanced modifyed FD as much as anyone here, but I hate when you see rich owners just go fork out thousands on parts , get someone else to install it all and then post ' look at me' pics when they havent done an ounce of work themselves.
I love hard work so I choose to do as much of it myself as possible

Plus it saves a TON of money, which you can use to spend on more parts

a lot of us don't make are own parts to be cheap but its because we like fabricating/wrenching and we want things to look and be made a certain way.

custom mods

Seem to have a few things on the go at the moment

Custom gauge pod, I removed center vents and created a 4 gauge pod holder trying to keep the curves of the heater and cowel in mind, I am happy with the result.

Also altered a set oem tail lights. I used angel eye rings for the the tails and LED clusters for the brake and turn signal, the center brake light is also LED now.

I have also relocated my apexi air filters out of the engine bay to underneath passenger headlamp, you can just see them in the underneath the front turn signals. I did this by using two sets of ally air filter pipes you can get from ebay.
I am also making a set of sleek lights at the moment but not finished.

I have a couple more mods which I will post once I am doing them.

I have another idea besides my lseek light kit. I'm thinking about running a computer in my car with a touch screen lcd. If I do that I'll probly remove the ac controls and write a program to control them with the computer. I had started a project like this a while back but never finished it. I had it to the point where I could control it from my laptop but I never purchased the car computer and I never installed the lcd.

In this project I'll probly mold the center section (where the ac controls and radio bay is). I'll fiberglass a piece without the ac controls. I'd thought about mabey molding some holes for some gauges or maybe flush mount my avc-r boost controler.

thanks
John

wow! I like these lights! Not bad at all! Can you make another set or tell me what material it took to convert it?

I'm interested in doing something like this!

I'll show you mine if you show me yours. Maybe not. One of the coolest things I've seen is the guy that did the efini tail lights. I can't find the pic right now. Anyone else know what thread it's in?

Back when I was in school (and broke) I made a custom M2-style cold air duct out of a no parking sign -they owed me!
