ah i just finished watching this video and im asking a question to all of those who watched it or know what im talking about. well in the end he had to do an eccentric shaft end play test. what was that tool he used becuase he didnt really say what it was and like what bearing is he refering to? or to any people who have done this engine overhaul is there any other way to test the eshaft end play. thanks

 

The tool is a "Dial Indicator" I used a digital one. here is a pic of the dial indacator, and another pick of me checking the end play on my motor. I didn't think the video showed a good view of where to place the screwdriver during this test. I hope this helps.

anybody know what bearing it is when your eshaft play fails the test?

 

I'm not sure what bearing you are reffering to but when your end play test comes up out of spec this the "spacer" you need to replace or carefully sand down.

There are different letters. Each letter represents a different thickness. I think there are 5. A....B....C... ect.

 

yeah i know theres spacers but like therer was a situation where he couldnt get any spacer that would help him make it just right so he said his conclusion was that his bearing were worn out

 

You can get those tools pretty cheap at Harbor Freight too, BTW. The gauge is a dial indicator, then you get a magnetic base to mount it to.
