sounds a lot better, none of the ricey tones (squeaky noise)

needs a pretty healthy amount of boost to make a distinct sound though

That's because "The HKS Racing Blow-off Valve Type II uses a large single stage aluminum pull type valve to handle the extreme amounts pressure and airflow volume that is associated with the high boost / horsepower applications of 3.0 bar (43.44psi) and 800+ horsepower." So basically, it would be a waste of money to buy it if you're not pushing enough power to need it.

it will work just fine with lower boost applications, it's just a better quality unit with larger diaphrams

Or you could vent the stock one.

Works well. I've probably got one of the more modified cars thats running a stock BOV on the forum. I won't replace it until I go single. Venting it works very well.

Oh I wasn't insinuating that it wouldn't work...just that you'd be overpaying, considering you wouldn't be able to reap the full benefits... Ie, the SSQV works just fine as well

i don't think so, the SSQV makes too much noise, so i don't think it works well

i'm running stock BOV too here very modified

LMAO lol. That's hilarious. Great reasoning you got there hehe

On a serious note tho...could/would more noise a BOV makes be related to more frequent venting/venting quicker at certain pressures, thereby reacting faster to the turbos unspooling, and thus being better at preventing them from spinning in reverse in vacuum? (Obviously, it could simply be the mechanism used to generate a noise is louder from one BOV to the other, but I mean in the sense of one that you can make go off at any time eg. SSQV, or one that you'll practically never hear, unless boosting a lot, say, the Racing BOV?)

you can always tell a ricer apart from the rest, because one of the first questions they post is about a bov. Man these cars are definately falling into the wrong hands.

While most of the ppl who ask about BOVs usually have a very low post count, I gotta say from my real life experience...I've almost NEVER come across someone (on the street) who had a BOV unless he was running some serious power... be it an Eclipse, WRX, what have you. The ONLY time I've heard someone's BOV and it was pure garbage was when this Probe and Neon were revving at me lol...and man, that BOV was WEAK! They were hitting rev limiter, and all you heard was this tiny *** hiss lol (either that, or they fried their piston rings haha)

hahhaha. I hate when people rev on you for no reason. There was this one time before I bought the FD, I was going to a resturant with my bone stock 4dr LX civic. and this one guy in a ugly light blue EF civic rev on me while I was stopped on a red light. He kept staring at me like he wanted to race me. But come one now, why would race someone when I have a bone stock non vtec 4dr civic. So i just ignored him. but this guy kept reving his engine and when the signal turned green he stalled. LOL!!!!. that was some funny stuff.
