Highflow cat with high boost?

You can see my mods. I decided while my cars coolant system is being repaired at the shop I would do some more mods. I'm going with 1200 CC injectors and a nipondenso Fuel Pump from rx7.com. I'm a little nervous about getting a mid pipe (live in CALI and concerns about blowing my engine), currently I have a high flow cat.

My question is, if I do the mods and keep my highflow, running about 13.5 to 14.X lbs of boost will I still be able to get decent power? Any issues I should be aware of? I really like the low end I Have now, thats another reason.

So in a nutshell is there any reason why I should not do this?

artguy found the choaking point of his stock cat to be 15psi when he was raising the boost on his M2 twins. I believe he is shopping for a hi-flow now. He may be a good resource for feedback if he bolts the hi-flow up sometime soon.

Upgrading the fuel system will only allow more power by allowing you to run more boost since you will be reducing duty cycle for your current fuel system.

If you add a MP, you will get about 20hp more for the same boost. Since you have a PFC, do a cross the board fuel increase using the PIM pressure fuel corredtion map.

If you were making 300hp at 12psi, then 20/300 = 1/15 increase in power which would require about the same amount increase in fuel rate for the same afr. Add that as a stating fuel point on the pim then use a wide band o2 TO GET IT CORRECT.

I'm going to have it professionaly tuned by Ricks Rotary, so I will leave that to him .

My only concern is MP or keep High flow?

My best 1/4 is 13.0 @ 107 with my current setup, thats with a 2.03 60'.

The biggest reason I went to a midpipe is that I could not have the airpump anymore. I don't think that you will 'blow' your motor as long as you are tuned correctly and have a ported wastegate. With the midpipe you need to let extra exhaust gas flow around the turbo to prevent over boost (spikes). As long as you do this you should have no problems.

He told me I dont need to port my wastegate because my HKS catback is more restrictive than a straight pipe. I have a profec B ordered too, that should be installed this week also.

Decisions suck.

i know rich (goodfellasfd3s) is able to make real good rwhp on his setup. I believe he's around 370rwhp with a hiflow cat on stock turbos. The thing is that the highflow will give you a good powerband with good power below the transision point the midpipe will make the car take off like a monster after than transition. It's really up to you. I have a hi-flow now and i'm going to change to midpipe for more grunt in the higher range of 6K+. The biggest negative i see from midpipe is the smell.

In the end,i have to ask you how easy it is for you to control boost now? If you had to deal with spikes and creep etc with the mods now, i wouldnot get a mp.
