High Idle

When I start my car and let it warm up the idle drops to 850 rpm. When I start driving it and then stop at a red light the car starts to idle at 1200 rpm. Even if I have been driving it for an hour straight. Sometimes it will drop to 850 rpm, but most of the time it stays high. Sometimes I can get the rpms to drop if I rev the car. This only started a couple of months ago. Did my idle screw loosen from the vibrations from the engine? I'm totally baffled with this one.

You should definitly check your idle screws, if the air-bleed screw (under the intake elbow) is loose tighten this screw all the way to the right. Then adjust the idle screw in front of the throttle body to get the idle just how you want it.

Ya it turns out that the air-bleed screw was completely open. It turned it all the way to the right and backed it off a half turn now I have the perfect idle. Thanks moehler.

Do a boost leak test! If your pressure doesn't hold that means you have a leak!
