hidden powa???

I brought a type R series 6 right, all good, runs awesom, but it seems to be a little too quick. Apparently just before I brought it had a complete rebuild, but its all pretty much stock and i've given my mates drags and it kicks their asses!!! considering they all own r32 GTRs, 94 + supras and even a 2002 WRX? it doesnt sound like its ported but it behaves kinda funny like you gotta give it gas in low rpm or it will stall easily, but when you get it up to high speed an high rpm it just wants to keep going!!!! I'm only boosting 7-8 pound

Hidden power?
or none of my mates know how to drive their cars?

rough idle is what a ported motor will do, but you should also be able to tell by the way it sounds. are you only boostin 7-8lbs because of a boost controller, or is that what your gauge is telling you? you boost pattern should be 10-8-10. you should be able to keep up with all of those cars just fine, as long as they are stock as well. congratz on beating your friends cars. mabie they just dont know how to drive...

You may also be running larger than stock primary injectors. They will tend to cause the car to idle rough. Of course, the benefits are more "powa".

Just think about when you crank up the boost. You'll get even more "POWA"!

OK, please explain how running larger primary injectors at stock boost gives you more power....

"you boost pattern should be 10-8-10"

I'm still yet to verify this with JDM FDs!! Someone please chime in (perhaps one of you okinawanians!). My car (a 93 type-r) runs 12-10-12- and I've talked to three other JDM, or ex-JDM owners who have had the same pattern... (I've yet to hear of a 10-8-10)

spekdah: Are you aware of any modifications to the car - anything obvious under the bonnet? Any pics?

where in this post did he say he had a rough idle?....he said it stalls out at low rpms (I'm not quite sure about this one? it stalls out at idle??)

He also said it wasn't ported.

apart from the mods I have done it looks so so stock, the nearest to the internals i've got is the plugs ( platinums actually) rather than taking it apart I think it would be wise to just keep kickin *** till it blows.

I can tell by the sound its not ported , but interestingly enough I have a mate with a Type R ( 92) FD, his engine is extend- port and his engine sounds no different to mine, nor any other non-ported battys, while in idle.

I think this will remain an rX-file until it blows!!

I met a dude from the states when I was in OZ last year, he reckons you can reproduce a kiwi accent by talking with your mouth open and your teeth closed,

try it!

You can very easily get the 12-10-12 pattern by freeing up the exhaust. I really doubt you have stock intake and exhaust on your car.

yeah ur right, I'm running twin pods with alloy plumbing and a straight-through exhaust, its great down here in New Zealand, we have no emmission laws whatsoever.

This country is great for the performance car owner, no restrictions on emmissions, no import resrtictions either which is why everyone here owns 93+supras, FD's, R32-34 GTR's, evo 1-8, 2002 wrx's, honestly its like heaven.

And its all pretty cheap as well, I suppose thats the advantage of living in the same hemisphere as japan ( pacific rim).

thanks, I'm running dp and cat-back - stock intake. Made 10-12-10 with the cat-back alone.

I still want to hear from the JDM owners though.
