Hey Everyone
Hey Everyone
My names Vlad,
And I've decided to get an FD as many people do, however at least i can say for myself that I have been on this site, among others and I have read and re-read the FAQ many times. Now I must admit I am still a student and I don't earn that much. For a student I believe I have a great job but i don't work full time, None the less I can still make a decent amount of cash.
Now I have been on this site for many months now, quietly reading and saving up money slowly. Now I realize the cost of purchasing an FD is high so I set it as a sort of long term goal for myself however yesterday this all changed. I was with my dad and one of his good friends who, by chance I discovered owns a car dealership. So I was having a bit of a chat to him and he asks if I'm into cars. I simply told him I'm saving up for an FD. He tells me that he has many FDs arrive on boat from japan frequently and when the next shipment arrives I can pick one out for myself straight from the port and simply pay the cost price for it plus any customs charges and registration of course.
Naturally this seems like a good idea to me and I ask him what it would approximately cost. He said for a 1999 model (Series 8) pure stock would cost me about $9,000 NZD. Thats 6,128 USD. I couldn't sleep last night.
So yeah thats all I wanted to say, in about 2 weeks when this guy gets back from Japan (Probably doing some shopping lol) I'll be another person to join the community.
Oh and his brother has been working on rotarys for about 7 years now and he has a full workshop in his yard so if i get any problems I am to go see him. I consider myself lucky lol.

Yeah, not to hijack the thread, but I seriously WOULD move to NZ. I've actually been considering it for years. From everything I've heard and read, the people are great, the country is beautiful....
And they have SHEEP!
Seriously though....I just love Australia and New Zealand. And they've been one of our staunchest allies in the war on terror.

lol it isn't exactly a retail price, i don't know anyone that paid that much (or that little it is). I hope its all legit, maybe that guy plans on pretending that cars gone missing off the boat so he can claim insurance lol. Also i heard NZ has no tax on imported vehicles since it really doesn't have a domestic market to protect, unlike some larger countries so that could be it. See you all soon :P would be nice to get some more rotorheads in NZ that aren't ghetto thugs who rant on about "getting a rota eah cuz dey can do mean burnouts g" lets hope my FD doesn't get stolen....
