Help: XSPower Intercooler

I think for $99 this is just an amazing deal. But I have some questions about the XSPower IC. Which blow off valve (or size?) will fit on the pipe?

Also, what else do I have to replace? (I think the stock intake will get in the way so I need to change that, but is that for sure?)

I did a search for 'xspower' but mainly came up with a bunch of arguing

well i dunno much about it but im pretty sure that the flange is for a greddy type s bov

I am wondering that myself since I have the intercooler! Everyone I have talked to says a type-s, but I was thinking about the RS or HKS. Guess Ill have to modify it if needed!

I just saw a few pics, you can just close off that bov hole. (Put a plate on it). I think that's what I will do as aftermarket bov's are pretty obnoxious when they vent off...

For 100$ your probably not getting a very high quality product. But yes a greddy type s BOV will work. I have seen one of the intercoolers in person. Looks like something worth 50$. For such a vital part I can't see why you would want to cheap out.

Are you sure you have actually seen one or are you spouting off a bunch of BS. My XS POWER IC has great welds and in no way looks like a 50 dollar part.

Where can you buy a duct for one of these intercoolers. I know someone was making a bunch, but I heard that there are no more available.
For $100, I almost can't pass this up. Of coarse I'll have to do away with my RB cold air duct and replace it with some cone filters too.
For $100, it has to be at least better than the stocker from what I have read.

The GB for custom ducts was a total disaster, so you will have to fab your own. Although I haven't installed mine, just by examining it and judging by the core size, it should be on par with most stock replacement SMIC and gains close to high dollar SMIC setups... sort of like the RX7 itself, low dollar sports car on the level of cars costing 3 times as much.

I'm debating making a mold for the duct I have made. Only issue is I setup my own positioning for the IC as I did not like the position with the piping that came with it.

Yeah I've seen it in person. I'm sure you'll be seeing the inside off your motor in person too, when you have to rebuild it because you had a shitty intercooler. Why would you cheap out on a part like that? "XS Power" and "great" dont go together.

I too would like to know why I will blow my motor because of my intercooler. The welds on my IC were at or above my greddy 2 row I used to have. I also checked the IC for leaks and for any weld spatter inside the endtanks, found none in both cases. Running without a duct I was seeing temperatures just above those of my front mount. With a duct I should be doing just fine especially running around town and not having to worry about heatsoak.

For 99 dollars it is the greatest. It may not be flawless rolex quality but what is? For the money i could have saved on a part thats not particularly consequential to my stockish setup i almost regret going with my greddy. I hear the XS have fins inside. The welds are reported to be quality. The flow looks to me...eh...ok. Theyre definitely huge. What more can you ask for?

If that's the case, everyone, including Mazda, used below par intercoolers (referring to the stock unit). The XS is much better than stock unit and costs less as well, and I'm sure a lot still run the stock unit...

We've got enough threads on this intercooler already.....you have to make your own duct. Other fitment information has been fully described, including with photos.
