HELP! What is this wire? And does it solve my problem?

I have been feverishly trying to solve my weird issue of my 94 losing all acceleration whenever I hit a bump in the road... It's wild. It feels like the clutch engages then disengages for like 1 second, then it begins accelerating just fine...

I'm thinking now maybe a bad injector wire or something. So whilst poking around, I came across a green wire coming out of a harness and I can't figure out what it goes to or where I should connect it... Anybody know about this wire???

Heres a picture of it -

I would trace it and see where it goes to. The UIM isn't hard to take off and deal with.

You have to give us a little more to go on than that... are their any clips nearby that are missing a wire? Have you opened up the harness where it came from to see if it was just broken or if it pulled out of a connector?

Pretty difficult to say without some more info.

Here's a chart of the connectors of the engine harness. I'd love to give credit to the member who created it, but I can't remember who it was.

The air intake temp sensor has one green wire just as Troux said so that looks like it. Do a continuity test from the sensor connector to that side of the wire.

Ok...

Thanks for the info. I would do a continuity test, but I don't know what that is. Unfortunately I'm not the most electrically inclined. I have folded on the Idle/Acceleration issue so I'm dropping the car off at Mazda to a guy that is credited with being good with FD's. Hopefully, it will not murder my wallet.

That's too bad. I'm 95% sure that's what it is, and a little browsing could show you exactly where it goes.

That's the O2 sensor connector you're pointing at, looks like the green wire is tapped into it. Do you have an air fuel gauge in the car?

Regardless, that most likely isn't the culprit.

Ahhhh! You know what that makes sense. I just bought this FD and there is drill holes on the pillar where a guage used to be... I'll bet that is what it was for... Good call. Now when I go to add that guage life will be easier!

I have had similar issues with my FD. Do you have a power fc w/ commander? Or some other way to check the tps voltage? For me, i have a lets just say crummy tps sensor connector and it is very touchy. Pull off the connector carefully without pulling on the wires, and ensure the contacts are clean. Plug it back in nice and firm and check the voltage.

This was my problem, hope it helps you solve yours.
