Help Think I Am in Limp Mode
Well i have 93 rx7 r1 with a power fc and i went to drive my car to have it inspected. As soon as i get into the gas to start going it starts backfiring real bad like around 3000rpm or in boost and wont stop untill i get off the gas. I havent drivin the car in a month because i was swapping the turbos with another set but before i pulled the turbos it ran fine. But i am pulling decent vaccum and having the engine rebuilt within the next few weeks due to bad oil and coolant seals. The car runs fine other than that and i have not touched anything else besides the turbos and the things around it to get them off. But can it go into limp mode with the power fc? I tried resetting it and that did not work. I did wash the engine bay real good could that have messed something up i pulled the battery when i did it and let it dry good before i hooked it all up.
hmmm... I would check a few things: Map sensor (if hose popped off it will run shitty), im not sure if the FC has a limp mode either but on the stock ECU you disconnect the negative terminal and stand on the brake for 15 sec if i remember correctly.

Yea i have no clue i didnt think the power fc would send it into limp mode. And the plugs arent that old but i guess i will pull them out and check. It runs fine untill you get on the gas like 1/4 of the way or boost or get around 3000rpm it falls off and has rapid backfire. I just dont really know what to check first since i didnt change anything or mess with anything besides the turbo. Also when it does this my knock bar on my commander goes all the way up? And i did do the reset thing to see if that would fix it but i started it and it kept doing it.
Seems to me something is either not connected correctly, not connected or wet. I would go back over EVERYTHING you disassembled and make sure you didn't miss a vacuum connection and check all you electrical connections. It is unlikely a completely unrelated issue arose in the time you were repairing it.

I double checked the vaccum but it is pulling decent vaccum readings but i am going to check the map sensor tomorrow. But like i said i didnt really mess with anything on the right side of the engine bay where all the electronics are. But i think something could have gotten wet but dont know what could be causing the problem. It's just odd it starts and runs like normal at idle.

Go into the 'etc' menu and check the voltages across all your sensors, to include VTA1 and VTA2, for your TPS. You're flatbedding the car to us anyway, we'll sort it out

Well, that's a pretty valuable piece of info you left out, lol. I'd check your spark plug boots as well, may have gotten water in either at the coil or the plug.

It's right behind the intake elbow, bolted to the firewall.
There's a connector and vacuum hose that should be attached.
If the hose blows off, your car will run much like you've described.
This has happened to lots of FD owners. Mine did that after I did the vacuum hose job. I should have tie wrapped the hose back on...

Think i know what that is and the vaccum line is on because i tried spliting it for my boost controller but it ran bad so i put it back on normal and it ran fine again.

Well i figured it out in 15min. Can i get a drum roll...................... Gummed up spark plugs
Makes since because it has a bad oil seal so there is so much oil it is building up and making my plugs foul. Took it down the street and smoked up the neighborhood and it runs. Thanks alot for you ideas guys.
