Help with TB, idle adjustment?
Guys I need some help with my TB, I had it polished a while ago and it is out of adjustment I think. I had the car running totally well before I took the UIM cover and TB off to have polished. Now I got everything back in and I am experiencing a very low choppy idle that barely wants to hold. Its chuging at around high 500 to 700 max rpms. It shakes and will not idle right. I had installed my new PFC not aware that there is a problem and when I put the stock ECU back, it was the same deal. Now I read some stuff on it and I also have the FSM out. I am a little confused as to what I can adjust on the TB to get it to run right. I have started a thread in the PFC section

and came to this, I need a wider audience to help me troubleshoot this. I am running out of time, I have today and tommorrow to get an emissions test or else. How can I change the idle to run correctly, I am assuming that something got loosened up during the polishing or shipping process. Who has had this happen and who knows how to fix it?

dont know exactly, but i had a problem where my idle was sticking at 2-3k rpm's. I loosened the throttle cable and it went away. Maybe you could try to tighten the cable to pull the rpms up. Dont know if thats the problem but thats what I would try first. hope it works out 4 you.

I went out and reset the stock ECU and started it up, it idled like normal up until about when the AWS stops and instead of dropping, it started surging, not real bad, but its definately doing it. I have no clue at this one. I also grabbed two pics (quality sucks) of the TB, can we see the screw in any of the pics? I can't seem to locate which one is what?

My only experience with the surging is when my map sensor became unplugged. So... I suppose it might be a defective map sensor. I'm graspin' at straws, lol.
Have you tried searching under "surging"?

Any idea on my "issue" https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/no-more-carbon-coming-exhaust-544348/

Edit: does anyone have a pic of the idle screw, I am so visual that if I see where it is, I can feel for it. Right now I feel retarded because it seems so hard to pinpoint. Also what direction is what. Clockwise will lower or raise the idle? or vise versa?

I think it's a flathead screw. Check the FSM, you need to bridge a couple of points in the diagnostics box and then adjust the idle. Stick your hand under the elbow and feel for a hole in the center of the TB under the elbow. The screw will be inside the hole.

Come on dude, I think a mirror in this case is not absolutely needed. If you just take some time and feel your way around, you'll find it. Just visualize your target(take another toke), you'll find your goal!

Bam!!! Look out!! I fixed the damn thing I think. Man I am happy right now! I found the screw finally the clue was that it was in the hole. I thought you could reach down and feel the head of the screw. Not true, its in a hole about an inch deep. Its flat head and easy to adjust. I tightened it and then backed it out about a 3/4th turn the idle stabilized and I drove it around the parking lot. It felt and sounded good besides I might have turned it too much back out, the idle was a little high, but smooth. Thanx to each and everyone that had something to offer. Take care guys.
