Ive posted about this before, but we are going to be moving to California in about 2 months for SURE. I know my car wont pass smog, because the air pump is not working, and I cant afford to fix it right now, anyone know any trick or any tips on passing smog, PM me or just let me know, thanks.

no matter what you do to try to pass emissions will not work. you are fucked. end of story.
it doesnt matter if your air pump is not working, your car could be perfect, problem free, stock or not stock and you still wont pass.

Here's the secret to passing, you need to weld in 13 cats, 4 resonator, 3 universal 02 censors, 2 mufflers, and a bottle of fuel stabilizer. Not only that but you need to top it off with the best blow job of your inspectors life. newb.

oh ya ok!!! I am not a "newb" by the way, nor am I an expert. I am from California Ive lived there for 17 years, most of my life and I know about emission laws, trust me. I know its not easy at ALL to get these cars to pass, but Ive seen people pass smog with them. If you dont have anything to say that can help, then your wasting my time

a healthy running car WILL pass smog in California w/o a catalytic converter

smog laws here may have changed since you left CA. my only advice to you is to swap upgraded parts for OEM parts UNLESS they have CARB certificates and fix your air pump. that will get you to pass smog legally. or you can find some illegal smog shop that will pass you for a fee

How about if you just weld the air pump clutch so that the air pump is on all the time?

you'll destroy your cat if you constantly pump air in it

Maybe he can find a way to lock up the fan clutch at the time of inspection. I do understand that the pump cuts out around 3 grand. So if he can lock the clutch up and drive it to the smog stations at a slow enough speed i believe that would be a cheap alternative.

yes emission laws have probably changed since ive been there.....I think the air pump works, Ive gotten it to work 1 time, but the wiring somewhere went bad while I was trying to fix it.... oops!! I know what I did wrong, but I never could figure out why connecting the wires to it didnt work anymore all of a sudden.Im not sure if its possible to run an aftermarket catalytic converter without an air pump and not mess it up?

we check for air pumps as a visual inspection. no air pump, no pass. aftermarket cat is fine. even a high flow performance cat is fine, just make sure your air pump is on and functional
