Help me understand something
I'm kinda pissed about this forum. I posted a question yesterday about swapping in a transmission into a RX-7, and about 40 people looked at it. Only one person answered. I want to know if everyone that looked at the thread thought it was a waste of space or not (is it my user name?). Id just like to know so i can figure out if i still want to come to this forum or not. Honestly its kinda stupid that I get less posts about a valid question than people that ask a stupid question like how much HP an FD makes stock.

Thanks I already put the link in earlier tho. Youre right about more people knowing stock HP than tranny swapping. I just wanted to consult any/all experts in here before I called the tranny shop to ask about placing an order.

not too sure about swapping in a getrag but you can buy either the hks or the qauife 6 spds.

Yeah, just because they looked at your thread doesnt mean they have to post to it. A lot of people read these so they can get a better understanding of what is going on with other people's cars and maybe apply it to themselves later on. If someone could help you out they would. can i ask why you want swap? did you trash your old trans and need another or is for performance? if is for performance and needs to support some huge HP i cant really say you would need to. from my stand point i think adam s. has been the only one to swap to a different trans but i might be wrong on this and i know peter still has the 5spd in his car aswell as ari from rx-7.com if anything you would beef up the diff. but this is my thiughts i could be way off here but i dont think so

many people have swapped out transmissions, but most of them overseas
reasons for not: really expensive
reasons for are usually b/c they do serious racing and are making BIG power and dont want the stock FD tranny being a weak point with the helical gears. dogtooth (straight) gears are loud, but a lot stronger.
if the stock tranny and many other stock transmissions, 1st is usually a straight toothed gear.....now imagine if all of your gears were that loud...

Well, what I wanted to do is have a shorter geared trans for better 0-60 and 1/4 mile times (also a new LSD), plus I would rather have 6 gears in the car instead of 5. Once again I have to say im sorry for whining so much. I promise to be more understanding in the future. Thanks for the info (including the 6-speed thread). I was just inquiring before I went ahead and checked how much it would cost for me to put the Getrag in.
