Help me please!!!!

Ok well i got the boost guage installed today. When i rev it redling it will read 1psi. When im driving hard it barely moves until i shift then it will pop up to 5psi and then drop semi slow. What in the hell is my problem? I installed everything correctly i believe....there are no kinks in the line and im running it to the nipple beside the BOV vaccum line on the manifold. Maybe somethings wrong with the guage...i dont think so though cause i even blew in that line after i had it tapped into that nipple on the manifold and it read 2-3 PSI with me blowing on the damn thing so i know the guage works fine. Im hoping it's just a hose or something. Where and what should i be looking for? I'm going to do whatever it takes to fix this problem so i just need all of your experience on this. I know many of you have had boost problems in the past and have fixed them. So any input from you guys/gals will help me greatly. Thanks to all that can help.

Well i just got back from outside and where we tapped into that nipple on the manifold that line that came with the boost guage was a little melted. It was a hard plastic tube and now it was SLIGHTLY melted. What the **** man.....I mean if they supply stuff with the guage it should hold up to the task ya know? Does it normally have that problem with the heat? If not what types(materials) of hoses will hold up to that heat and where can i get some? I really need to fix this **** soon. Thanks for all input

Here is what I did, off the nipple a ran a silicone hose all the way over to the firewall and through it, I shoved the hard nylon hose inside the silicone one and then ran that to the gauge. Just put a little clamp or zip-tie on the connection between the hoses and it will work fine. Don't use that nylon hose in the engine bay, it will never last as you have discovered.

Go up to a local O'Reilly's store and get some silicon vacuum line hosing.

As for your boost problem, I assume you purchase a boost gauge with a vacuum reading, what is your vacuum reading at idle?

What is your rpms at idle?

It could be one of fifteen million different things. Are you still on the sequential twins? Have you had your stock rubber vacuum hoses replaced? How many miles on the car/motor/turbos? Can you hear any air escaping under boost?

You might want to check out a local rotary shop (post in the appropriate section to find a good one) or link up with someone on the area who knows his ****. No offense, but this problem is most likely over your head. I know it was (and possibly still is ) way over my head when I bought my R1 four years ago.

Well, you really need to get a gauge that also measures vacuum readings. You could have a simple vacuum problem or one of 200 other problems.

You aren't going to get much hand-holding, so start with this trouble-shooting guide:

http://home.istar.ca/~dvandit/TurboT...shooting.shtml

and post back when you have narrowed down some possible problem areas.

Well in upper RPM's i hear a pretty loud wooshing noise from the hood. Yea im sure that it's over my head it's just i really want to fix it as all of you guys did who had problems. Thanks for all the input though...and there is 15k on new motor and turbos....82k on the car. Stock everything. I have the autometer carbon fiber ultra lite series guage mounted in an a-pillar pod. The line from it is going to the nipple on the UIM beside the vaccum line to the BOV. No mods to the car at all except that boost guage. Thanks again
