help me diagnose these leaks

ok i have 2 problems....

1. i was running 11 lbs on my profec when suddenly at about 5k-5500 boost drops to 9. since then my boost has read 2 psi low everywhere no matter if the profec is turned off or on. turned off that means it would run 5.5 instead of 7.5 like usual. any guesses or suggestions of where to look first?
ive never had a boost leak before

2. for a while ive been hearing a whooshing like a large boost leak at partial trottle but it does NOT happen when im under boost. some have told me this is due to the fact that im venting my bov to atmosphere
do yall agree or have other suggestions of where to look?

thanks in advance for the help

i knew i was forgetting something....

also when i first turn the car on and sometimes before its warmed up and ive been sitting at idle for a while the check coolant light will come on. this has happened ever since the installation of my fluidyne radiator. in the shop manual it says this may be due to a bad alternator.

anyone had this problem??

just looking for other possible solutions before i go get a different alternator and stuff

how can i check my alternator independently??

if you have a page number in the shop manual for directions on this i can just follow that

thanks

well i go drive tonight for the first time today.....and suddenly im getting 7.5 lbs again.....weird
the only thing i did was put a different intake pipe to the rear turbo and put a zip tie and sealant around the boost gauge's vacuum line cause i noticed it was a little loose
oh and i decided to try out venting my crv to atmosphere
....strange

im still getting the pshhh sound at partial throttle though

but damn......does no one give out help anymore???
no one answers anything in the tech support OR here apparently

i know someone's had to have something like this going on.....

and ya your 8-6-8 might be due to altitude....apparently people have all kinds of crazy crap go on up at altitude. try testing out your map sensor though. its right up against the firewall on the drivers side.....little black box with a vacuum line going to it and some wires. is the car stock??

i also have that whooshing sound at partial throttle which doesnt appear during full boost. i have done the non seq. mod but my boost seems to still drop off towards redline. when i hit high rpms it doesnt pull as hard and it sounds like its not boosting anymore. if you can tell me anything about why this is happening i would appreciate it.

Colorado Guys...

We should all get together and discuss our boosting woes. That makes three of us. I do know what is wrong with mine, though. But I have to take off the Extension Manifold.

I have a good diagnostic procedure for troubleshooting the sequential system. Well, it helped me anyway...

I've decided low boost is not an altitude issue. Slow build, maybe.

suganama: how low is the coolant level in the filler neck before you start the car?

alternator test is pretty simple: i suggest you get a hold of the shop manual and follow the steps.

you use an amp meter- takes two seconds. dont know how much resistance it should have, therefore, suggest looking at the shop manual.

DAMN THIS THREAD IS OLD!!!!!!!!!
it was JULY of 2001 when i wrote that!!!!!

i did a hose job and that fixed the problem for a while - found 2 bad check valves, but shortly after that point, i went non-sequential......that was SO long ago it seems........lol

That's funny... I never notice the dates.

I thought I remembered that you said you went non-seq.
