help with installing short shifter

ok Ive taken off the center console, unbolted the cover and even took out the bolts for the short shifter. Now I know its suppose to yank right out, but I think when I redid my tranmission, they got a little too happy with the sealent. Ive yanked at it for the past hour and its not moving at all. Even tried banging it... any ideas?

start by removing the shifter, maybe you'll be able to see what is stuck.

remove the 3 bolts on it.

i suppose you bought a b&m if you try to remove that part.

You could try tapping a 90 degree flat prybar under it, and lightly prying it up. Or putting a big screwdriver to it, at an angle, and using a hammer on the screwdriver, knocking it loose.

don't Yank it by pulling on it. what you need to do is push the stock shifter towards one side, this will force it to slide loose.

i suppose it just wasn't coming out because the plastic thing on the shifter wasn't coming out straight with the shifter still in, is it?

Yeah Im done installing the B&M shifter and added alittle more transmission oil too Shifts perfectly and doesnt grind or shake anymore. Took it out for a test drive and smoked a Supra TT along the way . I love it, much better precise, and quicker shifting.

It was just stuck cause it was glued in pretty tight and taking off the top three bolts help me get more leverage to yank it out with a mini crow bar.

I just got a few replies of people asking for pics of it installed, so i just went to tear down my dash again to take some pics for all of you .

Here is what the B&M shifter should look like once you bolt it in, and take out the stock shifter.

Much cleaner and nicer looking

BTW you can get a good deal thru my sponser in my sig as well.
