It may not be just the sunroof or window seals, the seal around the rear hatch may be bad. Once it stops raining and the car is dry, line the interior with paper towels (or just newspaper). Shut all the openings and spray the car with a garden hose. Let it drip dry for a bit then identify the wet areas. From there hopefully you can find the leaks.

BTW, you really are a fun guy. Many apologies, but nobody else has said it. Fungi, get it?

yep, rear hatch seal. mines leaks too. after I wash my FD I have to raise the hatch to let the water drain as I soak it up with a towel. if you don't get those seals fixed or put the car in a garage where it belongs there is no freakin' reason to clean the interior.

ABC extinguisher is known to be a good fertilizer, when sprayed on plants it normally kills them, but with lots of water the chemical acts like a steroid for plants, molds, etc. Just FYI.
And man I am sorry that this has happened to u.

Well, I just made phone call to fire buddy of mind and He said that mostly likely it was an ABC extinguisher, and also noted that they ussualy use, believe it or not, WD40 to disolve and get rid of the powder, in ur case he said its too late, and obviously ofcourse, Im so sorry man, it is just ugly, good luck.

You might want to get a few canisters of car storage desiccant http://www.vehiclebags.com/?direct=views&place=vb_qna

I have a friend who owns a '96 Viper and a '69 Z28 RS and a Road Runner which he keeps zipped up in this type of storage bag. He just dries out the canisters in the oven and puts one in every so often (not sure how often he changes).

This should get rid of your problem once you get it cleaned up

I didnt have time to read past the first page BUT I got a car for free one time that looked like that on the inside (actually worse). What I did was spray down the interior with Lysol (they have some that smell real good too) till it was basically a wet surface. Then I took a bucket of water with a bunch of Oxyclean mixed in it and I'd dip a rag in the water then wipe down the Lysol with it. It worked perfect and after 6-7 months the mold/mildew hasnt come back at all.

Oh yea, I used lysol and a carpet cleaner on the carpet and seats. I found a carpet cleaner at Advanced Auto that kills mold and used that along with the Lysol.

BTW - If you do that you might want to get a real good "conditioner" to go over everything when your done cause all the cleaners might dry things out.

I didnt do this in a RX7 so you prob should spot test first to make sure it doesnt mess anything up.

STEPHEN

hehehehe.... it was just bad luck with muitiple causes contributing to the optimal conditions for freaky-deaky nasty mold to reign supreme! its basically fixed but i still need to pull the dash and carpet.... maybe this weekend, but i cleaned them it in the car. im more worried about hte mold coming back! i need a new glass sunroof seal which they want $114 for at malloy mazda, and i need to fix the rear hatch leak (but i havent determined hte source yet)..... anyway, most of the parts are out of the car and cleaned really well.

i have been thinking about getting one of hte mazdamotorsports memberships but will i save any $ over using malloy mazda?? whats the skinny on mazdamotorsports program??? and what parts can you save on??

Wow!!

Best of luck to you... my stepfather had a Great Old Car that had a mold problem in the carpeting behind the driver's seat. He tried everything including straight bleach, nothing got rid of it. At least it didn't spread everywhere, it just smelled kinda funky.
