HELP! Car won't start!

I noticed a month ago my car was becoming more and more difficult to start, and now it won't start at all. I clutch in and turn the key to the start position but the engine doesn't turn.

Facts:

I have power - and it's not the battery because I hooked up a new optima and got the same results.

I don't hear the starter, and of course don't hear any plugs firing.

While holding the key in the start position my air/fuel ratio moves from lean to balanced when I clutch in (which is normal).

My clutch plate is EXTREMELY worn down (I'm in the process of replacing it now)

Soooo would a worn down clutch plate keep my car from starting? Loose wire? Bad starter solenoid?

Any help would be appreciated!

Could be the clutch pressure switch. It's a button behind your clutch pedal near the top. Perhaps that needs adjustment. If not, you might need a new one.

No it doesn't turn over at all.

I don't really know anything about them - but don't starters usually start sounding weird and stuff when they are going bad - in my case I don't even hear the starter running, like it isn't getting power or something.

I dunno!!

Possibly the starter. Get a broomstick and give it a little jab and see if that helps any.

yes, get underneath your car and give your starter a hit with something. Then see if it starts up if it does it means your starter is going.
