help with buyin fd

hey guys just got back from looking at a fellow fd... first i'll post the link with pictures and other info.
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...5&page=1&pp=15
so i live near woodstock/kingston the "upstate area" though im by nyc lol. met the guy hes a great guy met me by the thruway helped my dumbass when i got lost. body is in good condition in the pictures must have just washed it cause the clearcoat has scratches in it so its really not that beautiful. the mods are R-85 Single Turbo kit (KGparts), Steve Kan Tuned (Dynoed at 400whp on 7/31/05),
Apex-I Power FC with Dataloggit, Greddy FMIC with custom piping, 44 mm Tial Wastegate w/V-band clamps (dumping into Downpipe), MSD ignition, Keith’s Rails Fuel System 1680/550 & Aeromotive FPR, Supra Fuel Pump, Braided fuel lines and
Relocated Fuel Filter, Custom 3” exhaust with extra Muffler (Magnaflow) to keep in quiet, Koyo Radiator, Aluminum AST, 18” Volk Gram lights 57 Pro, Koni adjustables, Center speaker 3 guage pod
(Boost, Water temp, and Oil Pressure), A/C removed, Momo Race Steering Wheel,
Optima battery in rear storage bin,Momo Shiftknob, Greddy Profec B Spec 1
Stainless Manifold, K&N Intake, Blitz BOV, Silicone Hoses, Pettit Underdrive Pulley,
ACT Street/Strip Clutch Kit, 5th gear synchro replaced, Cross Drilled Rotors (not brembos as he specified in thead)

one thing that bothers me is the momo wheel and you can see that the windshield was replaced at one point though it is sealed correctly, so that implies a front end collision? and the 128k not the highest i've seen but one of the cleanest i've seen for the milage.

he states leather seats were upholstered, all wheel bearings misc engine and rear mounts have been replaced though cannot produce reciepts.

motors blown as you'll read obviously and as i looked into the past of his posts he stated the motor may have blown to one faulty injector harness. the rear rotor he says was making significant noise drove for 5 miles then ordered a flatbed to take it back to his fathers shop. since he has not messed with the car and is not interested in anymore with it.

i plan to over the winter either find a street ported motor or pull this one and do the work myself at my shop. im just asking for help as i have never delt with a singnificantly modded fd. he stated that till labor day when the motor let loose it ran correctly but thats my problem when i put it back together if it runs properly for me. just would like some input if you think its worth the 13 he asks. thanks guys

Windshields crack for lot of other reasons besides collisions. I've replaced many windshields in cars that I've own which were never in any kind of collisions.

Is it worth the price? Yes, he has a lot of good stuff on that car. Can you simply replace the engine and be on your way? Who knows.

It is possible with these cars to damage the turbo if parts of the engine actually break off (as it will exit the exhaust ports). You may end up having a completely torn up engine where most of the parts are useless including the turbo and a bad wiring harness, or you may end up with a blown motor with most of it reuseable and a useable turbo. There is no way to know these things before the motor comes a part which is what makes purchases like this a gamble.

If you are ok with possibly spending $5-8000 getting the car back on the road (i.e. say $4000 for a rebuilt/ported motor and $3000 for a new turbo), then it's a great car for you. However, if spending that kind of money on a car which is already going to cost you $13-14k, then keep looking.

Contact Keith at http://kgparts.com

I'm sure he could cut you a deal on just a turbo if needed.

Speaking of Turbo LOL

I pulled the downpipe just now to check it out and it's fine, here is a camera phone pic and I'll post more when I get to work.(real camera pics) There is no shaft play or any signs of damage.

.

Also here is a shot of the other 13B Core that I have. Between 2 motors you should have a lot of reusable parts.

And last but not least here is a shot of the Airbag and the steering wheel. (again sorry for the crappy pics at this point)

I hope that helps easy your mind a bit. I know it seems like a gamble but at this point only the Engine is in question and you are getting 2 cores.

Everything looks good. IMO, even with the blown engine, 13K is too little to ask for that car.

Who ever gets it, is going to have a great start to a very nice car.

Yeah, very nice car for the money, and it seems to have been done right to top it off. One of the better looking MBM's out there.
