HELP: 99 instrument cluster in a 93 not working
I bought an instrument cluster from an RX-7 Type RZ 1999 with the white face and the tachometer starting point being at 6PM.
My problem is when I went to attach it in my 1993 it DOESNT WORK
Does anyone know why this is not working and a solution to my problem (adapter maybe)?

I know for a fact the later gauges work in a US car, but I've swapped the gauges themselves out. I have a '99 tach and a JDM oil pressure/water temp gauge in my car.
I think getting the later boost gauge to work has been covered somewhere - do a search on that.

i have a 99 gauge cluster in my car but its been years since i hooked it up, you need to get the signal from the map sensor to the boost Gauge on the 99 cluster and i think you need a extra ground wire for the tach, ill see if i could find my wiring diagram so i can tell you exactly what goes where.

1) Dale and KINETIK_FD3S are correct
2) The FD was never OBD-II compliant. In fact, that was a major factor in Mazda's decision to drop FD's from the US market. Tough US standards (precat, OBD-II) in the face of declining sales and a bad reliability rep doomed the FD's future in the US.
3) The system was upgraded to a 16-bit system, and it happened in '98, not in '99 (despite the now prevalent "99spec" nomenclature we regularly use...)
