Wiring gremlins need some expericed help!

Okay Guys my fd was bought as a mojor project and I have run into a brick wall with it.

First off my engine bay harness was tore up and destroyed so I installed one from a 95 auto car into my 93 stick car. Are there any differences between the years will this be the cause of my electrical issues?

First off,
The turn signals do not work hazards or not no parking signals nothing or brake lights. The head lights will come up with the flick of the switch but nothing else.

No interior lights work anymore

The gauge cluster will not light up and the tach bounces around and does not stop.

The header controls will not switch but will blow on defrost only.

Any insight or help would be aswesome.
Can anyone tell me what the large box mounted in the drivers kick panel does and functions (everything plugs into this.

Any help would be great.... Also where can I get the factory service manual?
Thanks
Elec

I can't speak to using 1995 harnesses in a 1993 model, but all 3 engine bay harnesses have different part numbers for manual and automatic versions, so it's fair to say there are probably connector differences between them. If convenient, look for a white part number tag on the harness you replaced to comfirm wether it is the right part or not..
Your front harness should be : FD01-67-10j for a 5 speed
(front harness goes from ecu thru firewall edge around front clip perimeter thru driver side footwell firewall to fusebox + dash harness)
Your emissions harness should be NA3A1-18-052e for a 5 speed
(emissions harness routes from ECU thru passenger center footwell firewall to engine relays)
Your engine (battery) harness should be FD01-67-070j for a 5 speed

Automatic harnesses start with FD02-**-*** + NA3A2-**-****

The footwell box is probably the interior fuse box. You can pull all fuses and check them visually for broken fusewire or check them for continuity with a multi-tester.
You are probably blowing fuses from using the wrong harness or from shorts to ground. Write down which fuses blew before replacing an incompatible harness.

After installing a 5 spd 1993 harness and replacing all blown fuses, I would try the wiring diagnostics link provided to troubleshoot any problem circuits that remain.
If the same fuses are blowing after harness replacement, you probably have to isolate shorts to ground. If none of your wires are frayed or insulation melted anywhere, try testing with a different "known good" OEM ECU.

Good luck with it.

Okay thanks for all the input, I need to clear up what I am talking about a bit I do not need the engine harness (that runs the motor) But the front accesory harness the power distribution and such. The harness that wraps the front of the car and plugs into the interior on both sides.
Thanks again guys

sounds like a grounding problem to me.

Did you visually check your damaged 5 spd harness with the automatic harness
for differences in connectors?

Replacing the front harness is a very big job (as you might already know?). A lot of disassembly and re-assembly including fender liners, front light assemblies etc, etc. It needs to be hardwired to the dash harness as well (no connector)
The correct front harness for your 5 spd is # FD01-67-10j
Is the 1995 auto harness installed already? (to replace the damaged harness)
or are yu just contemplating the change?

I would check all your interior fuses in the tan colored fuse box in the drivers side footwell first.
If some fuses are blown, you are dealing with shorts to ground.
If all fuses are OK you may have open circuits or a grounding problem as just suggested.

The 2 harnesses are not interchangeable
There are connectors to the 5sp that are not on the auto harness - backup lights, speedo, brakelights, etc...
Also, the dash connectors are different for each and that is why your interior is not lighting up - this can be fixed by rewiring one of the connectors but you will need the FSM to do it
I would recommend finding the correct harness for your car
