UPDATE:

My install was interesting. I got all the crap off of the gauge face (acetone + green side of kitchen sponge = good). and installed the 5 LED lights...dim as hell. Yep, installed the correct way. so I then modified the single LED lights that I bought to fit the larger sockets. This worked great! no dimming when I hit the brakes or anything.

so now I am just going to install two or three more to even out the lighting. Other than that it looks killer. I will try to get pictures sometime, but cant promise it will be tomorrow or anything.

I got mine done too.
Write-up will have to wait for now - problems with pics being too big and I cannot seem to take good night pics.

I wired in 4 extra LEDs in strategic spots for more even lighting. It looks great!
I also wired in red LEDs into all my switched and HVAC controls and even the odo, so everything else is bright red instead of orange. I now have zero orange when I turn on the lights.

I was going to try to black out the gauge faces by tinting the clear lense, but after trying it with many different tints, I could not get the lights bright enough to see during the day or even in the dark. The backlightling just isn't bright enough to shine through the tinting.

Anyway, I was successful in many ways and learned form my mistakes. I also used many of my own techniques for doing this project not described here. Thanks to Hyperite for giving me the courage to try this.
If anyone would like some help, feel free to PM with questions. I have a lot of pics of the process (too big to post).

-Tim

They are too big.
I'm going to have to post them to a website and link to them.

just to let you guys know, another easy way to get better diffusion from the LED's(especially if the ones you have are narrow angle) is to take a sanding block and sand the round tip of the LED flat. the rough thermoplastic will make it appear less "spotty" where the light hits.

I finally got the extra LEDs. I havent had enough time to complete this yet. I am receiving more parts today and plan on installing the LEDs as well. All I have is a camera phone, so the pictures will not be great. I hope to have some pictures of my install by the end of the day.

Sorry for the late replies.
It seems that the more I need to work on pods the more projects pop up that demand my immediate attention.
Needless to say I am still behind but I am getting closer to finishing the first batch of 52mm pods.

Leo (and everyone else who have emailed me lately)
I will try to get to your emails later tonight or early tomorrow. Sorry for the lack of response.

Regards,
Frank

I just remembered where they stopped before I took the needles off. I did them one at a time so it would be a little easier to remember.
