Heater question.

Ok, I bought my car in the middle of summer....so I didnt use the heater..much. I remember it working though, or am fairly certain that it did... lol. Anyway, since I did my vacuum hose/fuel line/FPD/Injectors, I noticed that it wasnt blowing warm air...at all. And now its damn cold outside, so Ive been having need of it.

My question is, is there something around the UIM that (possibly an electrical connection) if not hooked up correctly, would cause the heater to not blow hot air? The air it does blow is almost luke warm, probably about 60 degrees, which is warmer than the outside air, but not WARM. I know its not a coolant hose not hooked up...or the car woulda leaked coolant, and been dead by now. All I can think is that the core is shot, or something electrical isnt hooked up right.

I did do some searching and read that apparently our cars dont blow hot air anywhere but on the floor vents..no dice for me though. TIA.

Mine USED to blow nuclear hot...but then I did the 'coolant-seal-in-a-bottle' fix and ended up plugging up the heater core. Now...no warm air at all.

Sucks....now I've got to plan on praying for a miracle that I can successfully flush the core once I get my engine out while I get it rebuilt. It looks like a MAJOR bitch from Hell to remove/replace the heater core.

Not so hard? Man, from what I've read so far it looks like you have to dismantle the entire dash!

yeah you do have to take out the entire dash, but its not hard.. peole say that the side plates of the dash are hard because you can break the clips, but dont do it from the outside,, stick your hand in and push them out from the inside.. **** easy.. i did the job by myself!!!!

the dash doesnt need to come out.. i just raised one end of it as high as i could and took the heater assembly out. Of course its a lots easier if you do take the dash out though.

Funny, I just noticed the same thing about my car last night. I get warm air if I used the defrost settings, but cool/cold air if I use the main vents. Strange. Not a huge deal to me, I plan on having the car garaged for the winter anyway.

Has anyone found a fix for this yet?
going through the same thing now but I have no hot air at all. I too just went through a rebuild. The system is completly burped so I don think its an air bubble in the core. Here is what Im going to check tonite
1.) that I can hear the heater flapper doors opening (ACC mode and move from cold to hot)
2.) Remove Enviro controls and panel and check to see if the switch cord is loose.
