Heat Shields important?

I'm in the middle of replacing my stock turbos... Anybody decide to ditch the heat shields when re-installing? Will the engine get too hot? I would think the turbos would run hotter with them on.

Thanks!

The turbos would run cooler but they are designed to take the heat unlike all the rubber/platics stuff under the hood. Why do you want to toss them? You can get them ceramic coated to help . I did this on a turbo honda I had,it helped alot

If heat sheilds didn't make much if a differance, Mazda probably never would have had them on

Most people that remove them have there parts ceramic coated. Not only do you feel safer dropping the heat sheilds, you keep you temps down under your hood.

If you do remove your heat sheilds be careful when you park over dry grass. Cars have been know to set fires without the heat sheilds (or so I have heard).

Yeah if anything you should try to figure a way to replace them w/ bigger shields. If not get them coated.

retards?

Heat shields are not for the turbo. Its for the fuel, oil, and
other VERY important things nerby so they dont get HOT...
The turbo will be hot no matter what you do....UNLESS you
wrap it.......
