Heat light in dash
I know this has been covered many times before but the search function keeps giving me proxy errors so I apologize in advance.
A heat light with a coil looking figure came on today when I started my car on my way home. What is this light and how can I fix it? I have no other problems with the car except for an idle issue that is caused by my airpump.
Any help would be really appreciated and I apologize again if this has been covered before

Sounds like a question for the second gen forum. The heat hazzard sensor is underneath the passenger seat. If that light is on then your catalytic converter is probably clogged.

Sorry I should have been more specific about my car. I have a 92 Japspec FD. I don't have a cat, just a DP,midpipe and exhaust.
And no FD Newbie it's not the windshield defrost light. It's a red light with the word heat written on it with a coil looking symbol.
So being that I don't have a cat, do I still have the heat hazzard sensor?

I *think* the Japanese cars actually had a probe in the main cat to read the temp inside the cat itself. Is that probe still in there somewhere?

I seriously don't remember seeing one in the main cat but I do remember taking a probe out when I changed out my DP. It looked like a EGT probe with a steel braided hose/line making it's way through the dash.
I thought that the previous owner had an EGT guage installed but removed it cause I have a 60mm hole in my dash where I guess it used to be. I have one on order so I can plug the hole back up.
I'll put the car on a lift tomorrow and see if I can find any other probe under there. Does the main cat you're referring to Dale is the midpipe??? Sorry for being dumb about this issue.
