Well, get ready to hear nothing but Crap about Hayes Rotary. There are 2 guys on here that had bad experiences with Hayes and since then nothing but Negative feedback will be found about them on this Forum. I actually am not in that category. I had my engine rebuilt by them a little over a year ago and since installing haven't had one problem. I now have just under 20k miles and it runs absolutely perfect at 12 psi. of boost. I believe there is another guy on this Forum that is running a Hayes Streetport as well.

If you're going to ship it all the way over here....you might as well have Pineapple Racing do it. Ask Jim Labreck what he thinks of Hayes...or is it atkins? Does'nt matter. I would'nt trust either of them, since i've seen some of the stuff they build. CJ

Hayes is OK only if you live near them and they do all the work. This is because they then are 100% responsible for meeting the install warranty conditions which are very strict.

Otherwize avoid them like thet are the plauge. The rebuilt engine they sold me was a piece of crap, and then they did not do whay they promised me after talking to them about it. It is a long ways between them and Texas.

Don't ask Jim, he will give you a complete essay on them!

Crap, I think this is where the guy I bought my car from said he had the engine rebuilt. They're around Seattle, right?

Well, 30k miles and so far so good, though.......

That would be me - MARIAH did all my work and they use HAYES motors on all their projects - even their race cars - and my understanding is they have been using them for many years. The only problem was the 2 MONTH turn around time on my motor.

PS I now have 12k on the motor w/o any problems (I opted for the 2yr/24k mi warranty)

If this is accurate, then that makes 3 people with Hayes Rotary engines with no problems. Do I hear 4...5..anyone else ???

Nice website Jim ! Also, the link above is a good place for people to get different opinions on Hayes Rotary. You will Always hear the same LaBreck and Westbrook Story. I do not doubt that they had some Very bad experiences with Hayes, but it's good to hear from other sides as well.

Especially when I have invested in one of their pieces of junk engines in my car HAHA!!...JK. Please don't pop on me now you Damn Hayes Rebuild Seriously though, I didn't hear about the horror stories of Labreck and Westbrook until Hayes had already completed my rebuild. BUT, my Hayes 2mm Street Port has been running perfect at 12 psi. for over a year and 20k miles.

My car is with Hayes right now for a Stage II Street Port, 3mm Apex Seal motor. I chose to go with them because I live only a few blocks away. It's good for my sense of security that a few of you out there have done OK with Hayes motors.

The thing i like about Rob is he stands behind his warrentys %100. You say you want a motor that has a huge port in it...you get it...and then some He offers a 5yr 60k mile warrenty for $2400! I think thats what the dealer offered was'nt it? How many shops offer that? CJ

Keep us posted on how your engine turns out. BTW, did Don recommend the 3mm seals to you? What type of application will your car be seeing? Race, street performance or what? Just curious because at the time of my rebuild he told me to stick with the 2mm seals even though I told him I was interested in the 3mm seals. BTW, tell Don that Ted from New Orleans said he better take care of your engine lol. Good luck with your rebuild.

My car will pull daily driving duties as well as the occasional track day at SIR or PIR. Don did not really push the 3mm seals. I suggested to go 3mm.

I'll post on the health of the motor and keep you guys updated on how it holds up. I also have a good set of mods to hook up to the new motor:

Power FC with Commander (tuned by SR Motorsports)
PFS intake
PFS intercooler
Efini Y-pipe
Rebuilt stock twin turbos
Ported wastegate
PFS downpipe
Borla XR-1 midpipe
PFS catback exhaust
Mazda Competition motor mounts
Pettit short shifter
Centerforce Gold dual friction clutch with Mazda Competiton flywheel
Rebuilt transmission with upgraded 5th gear synchro
Unorthodox Racing pulleys
PFS silicone vacuum lines
20B fuel pump
K&N washable billet aluminum fuel filter relocated to under hood
Taylor 8mm spark plug wires
J&S knock sensor with monitor
Crane HI 6D ignition amp
Mazda Competition radiator
Pettit aluminum AST
