Hayes Rotary

Hi guys wondering if any of you guys ever experienced POOR QUALITY engines from HAYES ROTARY in washington like I did. I have bought my upgraded PORTED and 3mm ENGINE from HAYES less then a YEAR ago and now It is running like SH**t. No mods yet cause I am still paying for the OVERCHARGED service that I have to pay off for gettting the (HAYES PERFORMANCE ENGINE). I will NEVER NEVER go back to them again and I know now its a BIG mistake that I did. So BEware GUYS... Any Experience with them would help... I dont even want to go back to them for warranty...

Oh man... if you search, you will REALLY wish you had searched before you went with them. LOTS of guys have had very poor to total **** from Hayes. I would recommend Pineapple, they're in Portland.

Don't bother with the warrantee. They probably put used parts in your engine that were on their last legs anyhow. They'll just put more bad parts in again and hope you go away. They've been documented to do that before. Were I you, I'd pull the engine myself, ship it to Pineapple (or rent a van and drive it down, not that far...), get down there, and document the teardown. Then decide if you REALLY want the hassle of legal action, but considering how much you spent, fraud might be worth it. See if Pineapple can do anything for you. Yes there have been issues documented with Pineapple as well, but not consistently, and not recently. And my engine is running nicely from them, though not modified to the extent your was. Not even a little...

Of course, you can go with another reputable builder, but Pineapple's proximity allows expert teardown while you are right there. Worth it in the long run (BRING A CAMERA!)

So very sorry they got another one. Need a big sign along Willows Road warning 3rd gens to RUN the hell away from there!!!

Keep us posted. And sorry again!

So which is it? Is your Hayes engine running like crap, or are looking into buying an engine from Hayes?

Believe it or not, some of us read posts in more than one area of the forum.

I have a recent Hayes engine (they put it in back in February), streetport, 3mm, teflon-silicon coolant seal. I've put about 10K in it, drove to SS7 and back and drove it hard (took 101 and PCH on the way down). The thing ran great, I even pass emissions last week. What sort of problems are you having with yours?

The only problem I had was an oil pan leak which took long time (weeks after the install) to finally fix.

Yeah.. I'm a local to the Seattle area and I've heard some really bad stuff about Hayes. Haye's actually only 10 mins. away from me, but I took the time to drive my FD (minor coolant seal problem) all the way to Pineapple in Portland, OR for a rebuild and new 99 spec turbos.

Top notch service. I gotta see what I get back though. But I'm sure their work will be up to par.

When?

They screwed me over in 1998, and I haven't heard anything to make me think they've changed business practices since. The driver for a well known trucking company that delivered my milling machine saw my car (and knew what it was) as we were moving the pallet into the garage and asked if I'd heard of Hayes. I said I had, and he mentioned that they would no longer deliver for Hayes and he had heard that there were several lawsuits pending against them. Keep in mind that this is hearsay and I have no way of verifying the truth of that statement... but I wouldn't be surprised if it were true.
