Having an issue with my FD

sorry guys im quite new with the whole RX-7

ive been driving my car back and forth from toronto to quebec to the army base and my belts snapped. so i got new ones and put them on. but now one of the pulleys i think its called sorry ive been out of the game for a long time.. is making noises and now its swaying up and down.. its not the alternator nor the air pump or whatever its called. sorry im not much help. i think its the oil pump. (if ur standing infront of the car its on the front top right side.) if that helps not the alternator but next to it

just looking to see what it is before i take it in to a shop.. im not sure if i tightened the belts to much or they just tend to go..

if i dident explain myself let me know and ill do my best..

cheers

smog pump? yeah, you can't torque those belts down too much. I learned that lesson when i installed the supercharger on my Miata.

It wasn't pretty.

Trooper, I would say it's the idler pulley that has failed.

The one to the right, top is the power steering Trooper. Simple things that you should recognize on any car. If it is " making noises and swaying up and down" then I would NOT drive it until the problem is repaired.

The power steering pulley is plastic and can be cracked easily. Also, over-tightening of the belts has been known to promote engine bearing wear. If a belt needs to be that tight, you are either running the wrong combination of pulleys or have another issue.

I suggest you do not listen to this friend for car advice.

Belts need to be tensioned but not overtensioned. The best description I have is to find the longest straight section on the belt, and press on it with your thumb. Give it a few pounds of pressure - nothing drastic. The belt should deflection about 1/4" to 1/2".

If you tighten it until you can't create deflection you'll destroy the bearings in your accessories like the alternator, power steering pump, idler pulley, air pump, and water pump. So like I said, don't listen to that friend for car advice anymore.

my battery died and after installing the new pump they could not get my car started

i told them not to keep pushing the gas pedal when trying to start the car but they told me ohhh its ok.. i got really pissed off.. so they ended up flooding my car and gas coming out somewhere in the motor its weird.

i have to go back to the army tomorrow so i just said screw this and got it towed home..
what should i do now??? im really pissed off not sure what they did. but the car would not start even with a boost .. i dont know much about rotaries so im askin for help..

it turns over but just wont turn on.. ughhh.. any help is appreciated thanx guys
