Has anyone installed fogs on a Base model

I have a 94 base and I was told that I can't put my fogs farther apart....TAKE A LOOK AT THIS PIC....because the BASE model had a different front fender and end....Any truth to this.....

That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. The front end is the same on all models. They don't look like stock fogs. The only issue with putting stock fogs on a base or R1 is that they don't have the bracket mounted into the bumper reinforcer. Usually no one pulls this off for you and you'd have to buy one at great expense from Mazda. But after market fogs should fit anywhere...

Check again my friend. I looked at my base and compared it to a touring and it looks slightly different under there. There didn't seem to be a place to mount on the base.

Plus they block your oil cooler flow. Of course, you could pull those pesky oil coolers for the cool fog lights...

Does anybody still remember when fog lights were all the rage? People putting them on Nissan Stanzas and ****?

Yeah, BEFORE huge exhaust tips on stock systems that give NO performance advantage, sound like hell, and SCREAM "I have a small *****!!"

Of course, if you have one, well thats a different story!

Some nimrod pulled my Touring's stock fog lights. WHY!!?? Gave me a nice switch for the fan mod, tho...

Many base models have plastic bumper inserts on the sides for whatever reason. You can take them off, and mount the lights in their place. I honestly think most foglights are worthless, and unattractive.

Well there is some truth to what someone was telling you. Maybe a little something got lost in the translation.

All models have a black piece of plastic in the "corners" of the front air inlet. On Touring models this piece of plastic is much smaller. This allows room for the fog lights to fit in the corners of the opening.

If you want to space the fog lights further apart either cut the black pieces of plastic to a smaller size or get the pieces from the Touring. OR you can just take them out.

BTW. The car looks pretty nice.

My post to this thread http://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=131696

included a close-up of the plastic insert on my '95 PEP with factory fog lights. Might give you an idea of their size and shape compared to those on your base model.

P.S. - I falso ound that it helps alot to adjust the aiming of these fog lights. From the factory mine were aimed so low that it was hardly worth turning them on, especially in fog or snow. I guess the factory setting was intended to keep them out of other's eyes, but you would have had to be about 3 inches tall to have been affected. I raised mine alot and still had no problem with reflected glare.
