has any one used a G-tech pro at the same time as a track run
Just wondering if anyone has used a G-tech pro at the same time as atrack run to compare the results. I have used the G-tech pro and gotten 1/4 mile times of 12.87 @121mph. With that trap speed my et should be much lower, especially because I didnt have much tire spin.
My car at the time had approx. 304hp at the wheels. I dont think the G-tech is giving me accurate times or speed. Any thoughts or experience..

I don't have too much experience with the G-Tech (or the drag strip, for that matter ), but I believe that the mph given at the strip is an average of the last 20 feet (yards?) of the run while the G-Tech is not -- it only gives you the speed at the very end of the run.
Thinking back on that, i'm not sure that it would make that much of a difference. Are you sure that all the settings are right?

I found the G-tech to be always high in the MPH. Or in my case KM. I gto my g-tech from the Auto Salon in 97".
But the Et should be withen .1 - .2 of a sec.
I usually get 191 km which is 118 mph. But at the track I get 110 - 114 mph.

Come on guys.. Gtechs or what ever are nothing but
junk gadgets... Why even bother..
I can see it now. At a HOTSPOT and Ricer civics saying
" MY GTECH say I run 11's @130MPH". Wonder how many laughs that would be good for..
or some guy in a Neon all riced out talking **** saying stuff like " according to my Gtech I'll smoke you"
If you guys ever gone to the track. then you would know
Gtech nothing but BS.. Go take 3 runs, and see how
yoru times, speed, reaction times, 60ft times, 1/8mile times and etc varies from run to run.
So when someone say.. stuff like " i always get similar
#'s on G tech" is a sign of some PHONEY stuff..
not a flame, just a opinion..

oh yea BTW.. Untaymd..
Your Gtech reading of running 12.8 at 121mph
is TOTAL TOTAL TOTALLLLLY SOME FISHY..
NO way JOSE..
I got friend who runs 12.4 @ 117mph.
Gtech must think you got nitrous or something
That kind of trap speed, you should be low 12's
or even 11's..
So if you can't trust the MPH, how in the world could
you trust the 1/4 time???
Not tring to bust on you.. but 1 second in a race is a life
time.. So if you can't trust it, junk it..
Kinda like a submarine with a screen door..

The G-TECH is very accurate 1/4 mile, often within .1-.2 seconds.
G-TECH/Pro is a very accurate machine, and the trap speed result that you get from the G-TECH/Pro is actually more accurate than the racetrack. Reason is that the racetrack averages your speed over a 60

G-tech has always been very close on timing. MPH is higher than at the track though but it should be a little bit. You have to be on level ground. If you are going uphill you will make it think you are much faster. If a ricer civic gets next to me and says his g-tech told him he runs 11's at 130mph and he can prove it then he is probably someone not to mess with and probably not on the street anyways. The g-tech is not something that you can cut down with any real degree of success unless you have completely misused/misunderstood how it works. Even a screendoor on a submarine can work good if you understand when it can be used and its limits (not underwater, duh!). If you haven't used it don't down it. Besides it can easily tell you if your mods made you any faster or if those 6 hamburgers you had at dinner made you slower from the added weight without having to find the few and far between dragstrip. I can't call it junk any faster than I can call my Haltech junk. Maybe every track timer on the planet is junk! If the mph confuses you a little have a friend ride along and watch the speedometer at the time the g-tech flashes the 1/4 speed. You'll be surprised at how accurate the machine really is.

WhiteRXseven...You have no idea what the hell youre talking about.
Shut that hole in your face before you look like even more of an ***.
Now...Back on subject...
The G-Tech, in theory, is 100% right. It uses simple physics and figures out times/mph/hp.
BUT the data it gives you IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE INPUT!!
Racing on a slope of any sort will skew results. Also inputting improper weights will skew HP numbers.
The G-Tech is just a computer and it does what its supposed to very well...But like any computer, its only as good as the data its given to work with.

I've seen many people post regarding the good accuracy of the G-tech results. As others said, the trap speed results are high because it is the instantaneous velocity, not the last 60 feet average.
BTW, to get a good idea of how accurate the G-tech can calculate horsepower, check out this link.
http://reganrotaryracing.tripod.com/fstrmods.htm
scroll most of the way down to see his dyno results vs the g-tech predictions. The biggest error is 10 hp, which represents a 3% error. Different runs on the same dyno often show greater differences.

Car enthusiasts: " what does your car run? "
FD owner with Gtech: Umm I never went to the track
but I running 12's according to my G Tech "
@#$%^^%#$%^ Ummm Sure buddy..
Why even buy a Gtech?? Why not use a FReAKING
STOP WATCH?? then calculate MPH with a calculator??
" huh "?????

A G-Tech is just another tool, understand how it works, it's limitation and how to use it and it can provide useful information. It is nothing more than an accelerometer and computer.
Give it to a monkey and you may just get crap thrown back at you.

For what its worth I do know how to calculate everything with a stopwatch and calculator by why waste the time when I can plug in a g-tech. Why should I go to the dragstrip? Its an hour and a half drive only to pay $15 for a couple of runs against some riced out Honda. I still get curious about what my car can do. The g-tech says high 11's. Judging by my races against some Z-06's I have to agree with it. I hate it when ******** drive the same car as me. It makes us all look bad. If anyone flames me for saying that I will just take it as a public admission of guilt and thats the last I have to say about that.
