Two young kids.....
I took the FD out tonight for a cruise, it is a great evening, nice and cool, neat moon out.....
Stopped at a local hangout to get a drink, came out and there is a group of guys in their teens ogling my car. These kids are like, "Wow....a ******' RX-7 man!" and asking a hundred questions (the ones we have all heard before) and they were all just genuinely loving my car. Man....that is so cool, to have a 9 year old car that is STILL such an attention getter.
If the Mazda execs really knew how much sheer joy and infatuation these cars still invoke, they would be rushing their engineers to the drawing boards to try and come up with something to capitalize on the allure of the FD.
Surely, surely they are not all blind.....surely the bean-counters don't hold total sway these days.......
Those of us fortunate enough to have these cars see this stuff all the time. We see how fantastic it is when a car company gets it all right like Mazda did with the 3rd gen, and all we can do is hope they have enough sense to look to the future and make a car even better....a HUGE task, admittedly but hell's bells......the core following is still there, YEARS later!

Actually, with the economy the way it is, the bean counters have the last word. Although it's nice to see the Z coming back. I had a '73 240Z as my first car, but it was a POS (all bondo, rag for a gas cap, etc.).
And the 3rd gen truly is an awesome car, from both the external styling to the engine and such (but not the interior peeling).

Hehehe, I love these cars
A girl just came over tonight to see the car and basically had an orgasm when I flicked on the light in the garage. Moaning, shortness of breath, and slight touching of the front fender with fingertips

Plus I also feel that w/ the rariety of this car. Comes more respect. I dunno I guess, its just me or I'm selfish , but I say let the "7" end w/ the 3rd gen. so that it can be officially dubbed a classic/legend/etc... And let the "8" and so on continue the rotary legacy.

I just picked up the issue of Road and Track today with a sketch of what the 05' RX-7 or RX-somethingelse is going to look like. Pretty much a two door RX-8...
I've said it beforea and I'll say it again. If Mazda builts something close to what that sketch is, dont name it the RX-7 and let the RX-7 name die with the FD. I think its trulty worthy to be called the last RX-7. Name the new thing RX-9 or something....

Man, where are these chicks gettin' off on your car? All I ever got was a little 5yo kid in a parking lot saying "whoa! that's an RX-7" as I drove by... Oh, and people like to yell, or honk at me,
Oh, and I gotta love in my neighborhood, I get people running out of their yards gesturing to slow down, when I'm doin' 20 in a 25mph... can I get another ?

Get this story, i had my car on the side of the street so it would be in the shade so i could wax it and these kids probably about high school age walking by say " i have to have one of those". They were cool about it one of the other kids had his neck turned so much as he walked away i thought he was going to trip.

When I was driving the FD the first time, I had an early model ford escort rev at me, I was at a red light, and he was going perpendicular through the green.... idiots...

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Only cars i see trying to run on me anymore are the Firebirds...and most of the owners are rednecks that think that since they own a Jeff Gordon hat....means they can race! Most of the them view their car as a damn UFO.....thinking its the fastest **** out there.
