Guage Lights

Once I parked the car, and before I can turn off the lights, the lights inside my car ( guages, where the a/c control is, speedo ) just shut off.

I tried turning the lights off and on but it wouldn't come back on. Also tried the dimmers but to no avail.

The glovebox light no longer comes on either.

I am guessing either something shorted, or something unplugged.

If possible, can anyone give me some information as how I would bring it back up?

check your fuses. im not sure about the FD, but in my old car, when the dash fuse blew, it was the same fuse hooked up to the tail lights.

Check the dimmer switch.

Also checked the dimmer. I tried making it brighter, and making it dimmer, but still nothing.

northwest...

I had taken my gauge cluster out to do some painting and when I put it back in I had the same problems you have initially. I found that the dimmer switch was loose.
I took the top din panel out and pressed on the connection and it worked again.

the other thing and more likely the fuse blew. I believe its the 2nd fuse from the left on the middle row. take a flash light and look at your fuses.

I bet that fuse is blown. it affects the gauge cluster lights.

the fuse box is the one near the foot rest on the drivers side.

the dimmer switch is that thing that you use to dim the light on your dash. behind the center consule a clip connects to it. when mine was loose the lights did not come on the dash.

So the dimmer is on the center console where the security light, etc.. is?

I'll check that out tomorrow.

It seemed to go out after I stopped and ran over a small bump, so I figured a connector was loose.

Hmm.., I didn't get to check either one but I plan to do it tomorrow.

However, I just noticed that unless I press on my brakes, the lights don't come on. Also, the side marker lights don't come up as well.

Turn signal, etc.. all works fine. Its just that the brake lights don't come on unless the brake is pressed (with the lights on of course), the light where the license plate is don't come on, the gauges don't come on, the glovebox is out and the only thing that seems to be working is the headlights and the turn signals.

Any more ideas?
