GT wing thoughts...

Hi everyone,

Just wondering what everyone thinks about GT wings.

I have a white FD which is getting the FEED front bumper, fenders and skirts fitted; but I don't know what to do about the wing. I really like the look of GT wings on high performance RX7s.

The car has a GT35r single turbo, vmount etc.. tien suspension, bride low max seats...

Anyway my question is; do you think a GT wing is ok for this type of car or does it look 'ricer-ish'?

all a matter of opinion..sounds like you may have the performance to back it up...I'm all for it. If you like it, that's all that matters really.

I agree that it's a matter of personal opinion.

Like you I've got a VMIC, single turbo, coilovers, etc., etc., and expect to be putting down a good bit north of 400whp when my tune is done. If you've got the *** to really utilize a wing than I don't think it's too excessive.

One thing of note though: Depending on which wing you get you won't need to have it on all the time. Personally I have the Afflux (Feed) GT2 wing, it's got base mounts which the wing stands attach to. Instead of bolting the stands directly to your boot this gives you the option of whether or not you're going to have the wing up on a day to day basis.

One thing you may also want to consider is getting a good diffuser, I'm running with the RE-Amemiya pro diffuser and have a noticeable difference in downforce as compared to when I just had the stock R1 wing on.

+1 on the rear diffuser...helped a great deal when I had stock wing/no wing.

Personally I wouldn't put it on any car unless it's track only

However if you're putting a full feed widebody, I would understand a GT wing and don't think it would be totally ricer.

If I were doing your body kit I would want something like the RB type2. It's bigger and more aggressive than a 99' spoiler, but still keeps the same style

most of the GT wings are easy on/easy off...so have it on for track days and shows...off for daily driving

Those GT wings do actually add downforce even during highway driving but you probably shouldn't be doing the type of driving where you need the wing on public highways.

There are probably dozens of things rx7 owners shouldn't do on highways lol...at least the wing will keep you a little more stable.

I would agree with you.... If the GT wing was a full time modification. The fact that my wing goes on (or off) in under five minutes makes owning one (for when you want it) much more reasonable.

No way in hell do I keep the wing on for daily driving, lol. I figure it's like guns and condoms though: It's better to have it, and not need it, than need it and not have it.

GT wings don't belong on street cars.

you shouldn't think of your FD as a street car...

haha so many mixed viewpoints.... I have a mazdaspped wing (the one which a bit like the stock 99spec one but bigger)
I might paint the cross piece in black and see how it looks... If I dont like it I think im going to have to get a GT wing.. haha

They do look good on these cars...no doubt. Just not my taste...I'm going for a lower profile look.
