Question Ground Effects

Hey guys this is my first post mwaha
I've just been chillin and trying to learn about the rx7
I don't even have one yet but I think its smart to learn about it first
Right now I have a 2000 mustang that I'm selling
I already know I'm going to get one with a new engine recently put it in and I'm gonan be careful with my mods
The first mod I'm going to do is put a kit on it
I know some people might think that's right that I have that as my first priority but having a mustang I know all about rice I see it pull up to me every day and they they usually get burned even if they have NOS haha
I've looked through most of the ground effects made and I've found some awesome ones that have all been too expensive or ricy for me
The one that I want is the racing beat
My main question is that Erebuni also makes a copy of this kit that includes a front bumper and sideskirts
I've heard that this copy of the kit doesn't really fit on right and easily and it may be harder to prep and paint also its fiberglass and it will crack if you hit something
The Erebuni is 100 dollars less than the real Racing beat one should I just get the racing beat one and not try to save 100 bucks or is the Erebuni one also good?
Also do you guys know where I can get the best deal on this kit Erebuni or Racing Beat?
Is the only difference between the touring and the r1 that the touring has a better cd player, sunroof while the r1 has a stiffer suspension and one more oil cooler?
My other question is do people have problems with the manual transmissions a lot on the rx7s? If I get a car with a new motor but the transmission has 80k miles on it and was driven hard do I have to worry?
The last thing is where do I get and how much is the RX7 emblem to replace the mazda emblem in the front or rear?
sorry for this rediculously long post but its the first one and I just had to get that all out of my system

Question

First off you are going to have a hard time getting people here to take you seriously if you first mod is going to be a body kit.I suggest you re-think your aproach to modifying any future Fd you might purchase.
This would be an un wise investment for what I belive to be obvious reasons. And to answer your last question you shouldnt have any major problems with a tranny that has apx 80k miles. Just make sure that you change the fluids in it when you get it.

There was your first mistake, a kit is not a mod.. And this being your first mod would make you rice in my book. If you have done your reasearch then you should be doing "reliability" mods ie DP, upgraded radiator, etc before that kit goes on.

Erebuni is crap, go for the real Racing Beat, don't worry to much about the transmission the most common problem I have heard of it 5th gear syncro being a little weak and can go out, but you can tell that when you drive the car. Basically just make sure it shifts smoothly into all the gears with no grind happening.

A R1 should be a little lighter than a touring too.

And I have no idea which rx7 emblem you are refering to.

well since your new im gunna let you in on just 2 of the rules we have on here....youll find the other out as you progress:

1. Before you ask simple questions, or any questions for that matter you should "search" it first and you can do that by goin to the tool bar at the top all the way to the right..then if ya cant find it feel free to ask...

2.When ya ask "where to buy a part related to the RX-7, the first place you should look is the RX-7 STORE which u can git too by clicking on the banner up at the top also, you can find almost anythin there. The other places to git them you can easily find with the search..

so Welcome to the board and enjoy your stay

People asking where to buy **** is my favorite pet peeve... is it just me or is that not the stupidest question ever? Where do you think you buy it? There's that RX-7 STORE banner just waiting for u to click it... hmm... it says RX-7 "STORE", I wonder what I'll get if I click that banner. If u don't wanna get it from the store just drive on down to your neighborhood performance shop and I'm sure they'll point u in the right direction if they can't get it. (granted not everyone lives in CA where there's one on every corner) Are people so unresourceful that they really can't figure out where to buy ****? Yes, I'm being a dick, oh well.

Not that you deserve it, wanting to slap a kit on an FD first thing, but here's some websites you should check out. Also, parts like emblems and such you can get on the for sale section of the forum or places like www.parts.com or www.mazdatrix.com or www.mazdaformance.com

check these out:

http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/
http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/index.html
http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/
http://www.maxcooper.com/rx7/

Also, like others have said, the first things you should spend money on are getting the car running 100% and performing any reliability mods the car doesn't already have.

Thumbs down You Guys Done?

Alright now that everyone got a punch in at my ***** I guess I should defend myself against all of these dumb assumptions you guys have made
Lets start with
FD3boost: About the kit if you read what I wrote I know it doens't look good for that to be my first mod but I don't want to touch the engine except for changing all of the fluids and filters and my engine will be new.
The new front bumper and sideskirts if thats a kit will make the car look more agressive in my opinion and make it my car and original so it doesn't look like all the other RX7s.
I do appreciate you answering my question about the transmission that's good newz
black99: you made the same comment about the new front bumper that I want and if I have a new engine do I still have to do all of the reliability mods like a radiator and all that? I planned on changing everything out when I got the car and then taking care of it and not driving it hard. Having to buy a new radiator on a new engine scares me....I'm planning on taking real good care of this engine becuase I don't have money laying around to fix it. I'll do the reliablility mods I can afford
thanks about the trans. info and i agree that erebuni is crap
tpcplaya: I've been on supra forums for a while and I've been reading stuff from this one now for about 2 weeks I think I'd doing pretty damn well knowing about the rx7 for 2 weeks
I wanted to either get a supra or rx7 and I can't afford a supra...
1. I did do a search for ground effects which was my main question and I didn't see anything
I know that it's stupid to ask questions that have already been answered
2. I saw the banner for the rx7 store but all of the parts in there are very expensive
See for mustangs I have the hookup and I know of places where to get good deals on stuff I'm not just gonna buy something from the first web site I find I want to save money especially for this car as insurance...With the mustang people also sold each other used parts from their cars and it was really cheap that way I just had to replace my frnt bumper and I got a new one shipped and painted and on the car for $150
thanks for the welcome I hope I get my car soon
potatobbq: simply the most pointless reply out of all of them...it seems that the replies started off good with the first 2 and then started to fade as it got to you
Very pointless reply why don't you just go to sleep or go do something instead of replying to something with the intention of not helping but annoying me...that was an intention didn't actually happen
I know I can get stuff at the rx7 store its easy to find parts any where but I want to get a really good deal
I'll use another example the racing springs I wanted for my car for most people cost 180 but I got them for 120 shipped to me because my friend showed me this website from out of state that had a special on them
rynberg: I think you will see that I do deserve it
I have learned about cars from people that know what they are talking about and are classy about it
I'm not some rice reject I just want an original look and I think that front bumper is cool not ricy at all
I respect and love cars and the rx7 is amazing thanks for all of the links I'll check those out when I get a chance and I will look more into the reliability mods before I even get the new bumper
thanks to all except potatobbq and most of tpcplayas reply it's a joke don't **** yourself with replies
I left a pic of 2 of my families rice cars including mine haha

The rx7store has probably the cheapest prices out there when it comes to parts, plus he tries to price match whatever prices you find that may be lower. For anything cheaper you can look to buy used parts in our for sale section or on www.thepartstrader.com . A 3rd Gen rx7 is not a cheap car to fix up, so plan on spending $$ to mod it and to fix anything may break. No offense but parts will cost you way more for a 3rd gen then they will for a mustang. I would still do most of the reliability mods on a new motor. The radiator has plastic end tanks that can crack, and it's prone to leaking. Also you can have a new motor if you want but if you have a clogged stock cat you can expect 0 psi boost off of your turbos. BTW, a DP is a reliability mod because you get rid of your stock cat that is prone to clogging. As for kits look at the rx7stores aero kits to give you a good idea of whats out there, for cheap "replica" kits try www.importfan.com Personally I think you should read up more on 3rd gens before you get a car or stick with mustangs because if you keep the same mentality as you have now then your 3rd gen is doomed.

snook: heh, my comment wasn't necessarily directed at u... i guess it's sort of the accumulation of so many people asking where to buy stupid parts... especially stuff like oem parts and things u can find very easily. i don't have a problem w/ people asking where to buy difficult to find parts like border, knight sports, etc. but i think it's a little much when people ask "where can i buy an oem oil filter?" "where can i buy an oem fuel filter?"... actually i didn't even read your whole post, i was just replying to tpcplaya's post. if you look at my reply, i only quoted one very specific part of his post with no mention of your post.

There are a lot of reliable mod like replace the air separator tank.(stock is plastic and easy to break) and raidiator etc... also you don't even wanna upgrade your suspension before you add the racing beat kit on? Tie bar and stuff(unless u buying a R1)....I mean all the mod are actually gonna improve your car's performance, handling and make the engine more reliable, RX-7 is verydifferent then a mustang or any other piston cars.. you have to do a lot more research. If you don't feel comfortable to change anything in the engine bay then you better don't do any mod at all. especially adding a bodykit without even lower or upgrade your suspension...and thats very ricey...
