Greddy vs. Apexi fmic

Ive read all sorts of opinions on the forum some people saying the greddy is better and some saying the apexi is. Im going to be having the fmic with my t04s anywhere up to 16psi and am not sure which ic to go with. Im debating between the greddy 2row 24v and 24r cores and also the apexi. If anyone has a similar setup let me know what you have and how the 2 compare.

thats pretty easy

go with the apexi gt spec fmic

u said u will be runnin' 16 psi the 2 row greddy is only rated at 14

the apexi is 4 row so it will with stand more that 16+ psi , plus u dont have to do surgery on the bumper

i had the apexi and it was great, will recomend over greddy

shouldn't you be comparing the greddy 3 row to the apexi? if you're talking about a single setup? i know some people have run the 2 row with now issues. just a thought.

I run the old school Greddy 2 row. It's a gret ic, which it came off a 9 second RX-7 with a T-70 turbo. I'm happy with my intercooler, and the max I boost is 15psi.

i have an a'pexi and i love it. i run a t78 @ 16psi daily and intake temps never go up more than 3-5*C after a hard run, even when it's hot. the only problem i have, is some heat soak sitting in traffic, but i think almost all of us have that issue. plus not having to cut up the car to make it fit is a huge plus

I'm pretty sure you don't unless you use the GTR cored IC from XS or RX fashion. Either IC should work fine. The whole GReddy 2 row only being useable up to 15 psi is a load of bull$hit. People have used it lots of different setups and have had no problem using it.

I removed the bumper for the Apexi FMIC (intsructions sait to). The PIA part of bumper reoval is the plastic tabs for the fender undercover. The instructions didn't make much sense and they are backwards (right to left). I didn't like how low the radiator was, so I did custom mounting to made it angled. I still have to figure out the A/C stuff. Keep in mind it is made for a stock FD (stock elbow, stock radiator). Fluidyne has welded mounting tabs that can't be rotated as per the instructions (maybe with Koyo you can).

I installed my apexi w/o removing the bumper...I don't even see how removing the bumper would even really help...it was a snap with it on

i guess it depends what company is supplying the apexi ic. I have the rxfashion intercooler and it is required that you take of the front bumper. You also have to take off that metal cross brace thats on the front of the car that the ic takes the place of for mounting.

May I add that I had a industrial 'heat exchanger' shop ran a pressure test on my Greddy one at 25 psi....no fricking leak, man. So, the core should be able to hold up, but the cooling I don't know. Unless you run way high boost for so long, FMIC should be able to cool down, right?

Apexi FMIC: I was able to take the car out last night and my intake temps were 44C on the street and 34C on the highway. Water temp max was 95C without fans and 84C with both fans (A/C on 1).

Try it with the AC full blast and I bet it will be the same temps as the AC on 1...
