Great info; thanks. Any particular reason you went with the stock style as opposed to AST style? Looks like AutoStaff's parts are listed on RHDJapan but I couldn't find their website. Any idea where to find the AST style tank?

The people that had the issues with their ac condenser brackets being completely off , what was your solution and also anyone have pictures of how they bent and routed their ac lines.

Question on this install:

What's the deal with the three threaded plugs on the upper tank of the radiator? These seem completely useless, but the instruction say to do something with them (in Japanese). I put pipe tape on the grub screws, but I'm worried they are going to leak.

It doesn't seem like they are pipe threads (that get tighter).

Peter I think that they can be used to bleed any remain air in the radiator.

Yeah, I'm just worried the won't be sealed when the system is under pressure, since they aren't pipe thread. It's just a grub screw into the radiator.

Anybody have any experience with these leaking?

I used an app in the past to convert Japanese into English. Worked like the charm. Uses the camera to capture the symbols.

Also I noticed in a pic posted by greddy showing the system mocked up on a platform outside of a car and it shows a black ac condenser. What options do we have with this kit..

Yeah, I tried the japanese app... nothing, utter gibberish, except one word in the whole paragraph: "sensor".

I tried that APP tonight and it picked up the English numbers lol.
I'm at the same point. Looking at the terrible photocopied pictures in the chinsey directions. For the price you would think you could get an actual high res color photo in an actual manual... Better yet; an English translation.

I'm all installed, I'm just worried about filling it and heating it up with those three plugs.

Mind shooting some photos and posting in this thread for a few of us currently staring at the Japanese instructions?
Also some commentary on the AC lines if you are running AC. Would be real helpful and I'm sure for future readers.

No A/C yet but I did construct some ducting for the IC (which has huge holes around it, and alternate mounting for the fuse box (putting it through to where you'd need to take the bumper off to access it is retarded).

Everything else is pretty straightforward. I'm constructing a cold air intake, I'll post when done.

Also, with a turblown EFR kit, the turbo sits really low so inlet interfered with the routing of the radiator hose. I bought an extra elbow and some joiners and came up with this rerouting solution.

Nobody has any info on these bleed screws? What has everyone done with them before?

I wouldn't feel comfortable using those grub screws either. Can you switch to a bolt with an oring or crush washer perhaps?

I may try something like that. Can't believe this has never come up before with all of these that have been bought/installed.

I pulled one of the grub screws, and can't tell what thread it is... it's very fine, and doesn't match any of the bolts/nuts I have laying around. It might be pipe thread, I don't know. I'll have to take it to a hardware store and compare.

Seriously, nobody else has had any experience with this?!

Do you have a tap and die kit? Most of them will have thread gauges in them, at least my 3 sets came with them. Then you will know for sure what size it is.

So I compared threads at the hardware store. It doesn't match any of the metric threads... its even finer than the M10 extra fine thread.

It's closes to 1/8 NPT, and the grub screw will actually thread into a female 1/8NPT fitting, but it's a little loose, and a 1/8NPT male plug looks ever so slightly larger, but the threads mesh.

The instructions say "1/8 NP" with no "T"... is it possible these grub screws are 1/8 NP non-tapered threads? Do such a thing exist? I don't know what possible purpose would they serve?

I bought a couple true 1/8 NPT plugs I can test when I get home, but this is ridiculous. I've been texting SBG for two days with no reply. Can't ANYONE who has this kit installed shed some light on this?

BSPT? Though tapered doesn't sound right for a grub screw

Peter, thanks for the info about the EFR kits interfering with the radiator hose. Will prep for that.

As for the grub screws, the translation from the installation instructions agree with my first instinct

I was thinking about ponying up to translate the installation instructions, when I did a cursory google a just after getting my kit it really didn't look that expensive.

Well, that makes some sense—though I may try it with some actual 1/ NPT plugs, the ones it came with don't seem to go in very tight even with pipe tape.

I'm not sure how you'd use them to air bleed without spilling coolant, but hopefully it's not really necessary.

Thank you!!
