Greddy Type-s
Greddy Type-s
I just bought an R1 and the guy already had a greddy BOV on it and the car is all stock, but for some reason i can't hear the BOV at all. I'm not sure if its because of the fact that I'm all stock and i don't have intake or because there's something wrong, can you please help me?
Thanks

If you have it set all the way to soft and are still not hearing anything, perhaps the valve is stuck shut, or perhaps there is a problem with the vacuum line. I do hope you are not damaging your turbos by not having that valve open!
Quiet BOV
I installed mine today, I can't hear it at all. I purchased it used, but the car seems to still drive the same (actually a little smoother), I just don't hear it at all. I know the vacuum hose is ok because the stock BOV worked fine and it was loud...(quite a bit louder than the Greddy type S I have in now).
Should I take it apart? Is there somthing that needs to be cleaned?
One strange thing was when I drove the car when I put the Greddy BOV in, some oil substance came out of that other hose pipe on the top of the BOV. Is that normal??? The Bov makes more of a "Cha chunk" sound...is that ok? it isn't loud, but I hear that instead of some sort of "pssssht".
Thanks

I just installed mine couple days ago, its freakin loud with the hood up, but with the hood down its just a little louder than stock, its probably due to the sound/heat detenation pad attached to the hood, you can remove it for a louder sounding blow off at the cost of your hood warping from the heat... so I don't think its really good trade off...
if you want a loud BOV get the turbo xs RFL (RFL stands for Really Fukcin Loud) lol

i'm not saying this is the correct way to have your bov setup.... but here's a way to make it louder. take out the 6 allen screws (think all screws are 3mm) on top, open it up and pull out the middle spring (should have been 2 springs in there when you opened it). put it back together and back the stiffness spring out all the way (make sure to be ready to catch it when it drops out). then put it back in and tighten it till you feel some tension like it's finally pressing on the plunger. should be set... if it leaks boost just tighten down the stiffness adjust ontop. good luck..
ps. my greddy type S has been used as a paperweight for a LONG time..

Not just quiet, silent
I tried pushing on the plunger, and it is really difficult to do. It will go back up in there but it isn't easy. And when I changed the tightening screw it didn't seem to affect the stiffness of the plunger....is it a noticablly change?
Pumped: It isn't that it is equal to or only slightly louder, I don't hear it at all. Keep in mind that I had my stock venting to atmosphere, and I also have this one venting to atmosphere. I can't hear the Greddy at all. I turned off the music and rolled down the windows....nothing except that soft "cha-chunk" sound.
