Turbo Control Solenoid Question

I'm doing the turbo simplifacation and i was being extra carefull with the trubo control sonlenoid and i broke it. On the diagram of the turbo simplifacation vacuum hose the picture of the turbo control soneloid looks the same as the rest but in the facorty diagram it looks different.
Does anyone know if i can just use a regular solenoid as the turbo control solenoid and if not do anyone have any used?

Thanks
~Luke

If you are referring to the solenoids in the main rack (or rat's nest), many of those are interchangable. Look at the parts diagram to match part numbers.

The turbo control solenoids are different. There are the turbo control and turbo precontrol solenoids which are bolted to the front of the upper intake manifold, and there is another turbo control solenoid which is mounted to the air control valve on the lower intake manifold. None of these are interchangeable with those solenoids in the rack.

i saw the site, but i am wondering from anyone else who has tried it or knows:

what are the disadvantages of removing the solenoids in the turbo simplification? it cleans up everything, but what is the catch???

The catch is you need either a single turbo or perminent non-sequential mod to really clean it up!

here it says that it retains the sequential system. what are the downsides to doing this:

Basically what the simplification diagram does is remove the emissions control system, but leaves the seq turbo system alone ... so that's your downside. He also removed the double throttle.

The solenoid bolted onto the UIM is the wastegate control, not the turbo control.

The turbo control solenoid bolted to the acv can be interchanged with the purge control solenoid. You can eliminate purge control, just vent it to the engine bay and use the purge control solenoid for the turbo control solenoid.
You can eliminate basically any solenoid that doesn't have turbo in its name if you get rid of the air pump. it really opens things up in there and reduces the complexity of the system.

I put in Spyfishes WHOLE block-off kit... double throttles and everything. Along with that, I'm doing the turbo simplicfication also. I found my turbo problem while I was doing it. I had two bad solenoids tucked away. I'm replacing those and getting rid of all the other junk in there. I'm going to relocate the "rack" to right behind the intake on the fire wall. That way the solenoids are easily viewable and I'll be able to see if one of the lines pops off. I can update as I get more done if you want...

If it is the turbo control solenoid in the "rack", then it is interchangeable with all the other rack solenoids.

If it is the one on top that has two nipples right next to each other, it is not interchangeable with any other solenoid.

Later,
Patrick

Right, the 8 solenoids on the rack that look identical are all interchangeable. The rest that aren't the 3-nipple rack solenoids are all loners, none can be swapped/traded that I know of.

some of the solenoids in the rack are easier to switch than others because how they take air in & out ... but not really too big a deal.
