Talking Greddy M-Spec FMIC converted to a VMIC...???

Now, I know that anything is possible if you are willing to fabricate and spend time and or money to do it. From what I have been reading the M-Spec is a decent IC. Has anyone ever thought of converting it to a V-mount? Other than me of course. I'm sure there has to be someone.......... So is it worth it?

I know someone is going to ask so here is the car so far:

30k, on my streetported 13B ( just had some housings refurbished when the car blew the radiator so those have about 1k on the since the rebuild.)

PFC
DP
High Flow Cat
Apexi GT Spec exhaust
550 pr inj
1300 sc inj
99 spec twins
stock boost (91 **** octane)
Greddy intake
Fliudyne radiator

So if you guys have time I'd like to read some opinions. As you guys are my only source of other FD owners and have always been very helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Oh and no I'm not a drag racer but I do love me a canyon drive on the weekends or when I can't sleep.
and yes i searched.

whats the point? do you just wanna do it so you can say you did it? Theres already plenty of V mount on the market that are efficient enough for something like a canyon drive.

Making a V mount is plenty of trial and error and hard work. Not worth it just to get a name brand IC in V configuration.

I've just been doing a lot of reading on the subject. You know the whole FMIC v.s VMIC v.s SMIC threads. A lot of different opinions out there. I can understand someone who has the stock radiator and IC purchasing a kit. My Fluidyne has only 1k miles and I have a new Greddy M-Spec sitting in my garage. So as I'm planning to put it in this weekend. Making time and making sure my Newcastles are nice and cold stocked in the fridge I'm thinking......****! Could this be converted to a VMIC? Would that be better? Just though I would open it up for for discussion. I see your point in it not being worth the headache though. Just thought I'd ask cause I didn't find anything when I searched. But come to think of it I might have jumped the gun. Reading over my post it now seems to be a f*cking stupid question, which I am positive now is the reason I didn't find anything in my search.

yes it can, but is it worth it...

its small for a front mount, only being 2 row. the only benifit you would gain from the conversion would be lower water temps. since there would be much more cool air entering the radiator. i'd say...save your time and money.

You can send it to Jason at Rx7Store and he can modify it for V-Mount.

Greddy has discontinued the M spec intercooler, but we can do the conversion on any front mount.

ide say f*k it.if you want it make it.mine is spot on,4years ago i made it from a trust f/m.its pretty thick ,and the short pipelengths seem to contribute to early boost and corner speed, but b*ll*cks to billy brand buyer,if uve got it ,make it ,try it.you dont need something thats better off on a big power car and anything is an improvement on standard job..if it works ule feel betr than if you paid over the top for nowt better,if it dont, who cares.its fun trying and youll learn.
mustbe fully ducted and seperate from the rad feed as v mounting rad to feed i/c is bad.the rad will be efficient enough to draw airflow away from i/c.
mine is now full horizontal configuration ,i/c and rad with ducted fans too.maybe only rx in world like it,ive not asked,i thought, then i did ,then itried it ,then i smiled.....try this ,,the vmount bandwagon is boring,do summit new.if i could post pics i would but this sites not v good at it

I saw Jason's thread thats exactly what I had in mind. A lot of work and a lot of down time. Looks great though in my opinion.
