GReddy Elbow
I have searched, but can't find out what max is talking about here, and my car is in the shop, so I can't check my engine bay. Max Cooper talks about putting in a nipple for the AWS system, but I've never heard about this, and have never seen anyone on the forum who has done this. Do you guys plug it? Put in a filter? Or did you do the nipple thing? Any help is appreciated. Here is a link to what Max Cooper wrote about his install:

Yes, take tube out and put block off plate in. You should have the habit of starting your car in 1st anyway. At least you will have the clutch in as i have seen some people start their car in gear without depressing the clutch and it leaped foward almost causing an accident.

Max Cooper is referring to adding a nipple to the GReddy elbow as the AWS originally connected to the stock elbow. The GReddy elbow doesn't have one (but you can as Max mentions). In Japan, there was never a AWS from my understanding.
Back when I first had my FD and cranked up the car for very first part of the day...the car would rev high. I didn't know about this until I read up on it being the AWS. Only occurs when car is not fully warmed up (...within 6-8 hours I've noticed of not being driven...basically 1st crank for the day). Initially, I plugged the hose; however, the car would sometimes stall out right upon crank. I didn't like that idea/effect. Next, i tried the "filtered" idea so I just used a filter cap (looks like a mini-intake and K&N makes 'em). It's still somewhat exposed to atmospheric air but at least it's "filtering." I never took the block-off plate route which is probably best (?). Regardless, I always start the car in 1st anyhow so the AWS is never activated anyways.
Looks like this (red filter cap):
