is the Greddy E-Manage system ok for my car?
I've recently heard that for a mild application, (street port, Filter exhaust and a DP on stock twins) the Greddy E-manage is capable of providing the necessary fuel and ignition duties that are needed to compensate the new flow. I have all the mods listed aside from the DP. I also have my stock cat on, which is clogged up pretty bad, and I wanted to run a Midpipe and DP, only I need some way to keep it all managed. Does anyone have experience with this Greddy System?

The problem is that you're still relying on the stock ECU to calculate fuel and ignition values. Piggyback controllers only change the inputs sent to the ECU and work on the assumption that the ECU will respond properly. On a car that's less finicky than the FD I wouldn't hesitate to use a piggyback computer but I dunno, I'd be a bit more cautious with an FD since the stock ECU ain't exactly something I would consider keeping around.

A wideband O2 sensor would be used in the tuning process to make sure that at the very least the stock ECU is in fact responding to the changed inputs in fuel values. I can't see how the ECU wouldn't respond properly if the O2 values are consistent. As far as ignition would go, is there a surefire (no pun intended) way to find out if I am sparking properly? These questions arise when using any piggyback with this ECU, but as I am not entirely familiar with its workings, Im wondering if this option would be feasible.

How much is the thing? If you could get a power FC for just a bit more, why wouldn't you just do that?
I'm actually one of the few people whos car ran perfectly with the PFS 'puter, but i ultimately sold it for the extra features, commonality, and tech support available w/ the Apex'i. One of the few times i've felt like it was worth it to "fix" something that wasn't "broke".

but if you get the base unit, isnt it capable of tuning through the software via computer? I mean, granted its finished tuning, Im not going to be messing with it at all once its all tuned. Remember, this is a temp. solution. I am definitely planning on a PFC, I just wanna run the motor safely for a little while.

Actually there is one guy in this forum who is using the E-manage with the Pettit pre-programmed ECU and it works but they don't recommend it with the stock ECU. If you want to find more about it you can enter the Yahoo mail forums there is a forum on E-Manage and there are some guys using it on the FD3S and you can ask them about it.

I think it depends on the port. Pettit has no problem running their ECU with their streetport, but its a pretty mild port.

im currently running a greddy e-manage with pettit ecu it seems to put up pretty good numbers but i would still recommend going to a power fc thats what im going to do when i get the money . I dynoed 351 rwhp with pettit street port motor, stock non sequential twins, walbro 255, stock injectors, greddy front mount intercooler. not bad
