Gotham Racing Downpipe

Well I just got my Downpipe today, and I must say VERY Nice. Full 3"stainless construction, and polished to boot.
Great price $183.00 w/shipping. Delivery was pretty quick too.
Anyways I will report more once I have it in, tonight some time,Ihave a question first though.

What are the torque specs for the Downpipe to Turbo Nuts?
I have not been able to find my FSM for a couple of weeks. Hopefully none will break off in the process.

27-38 foot pounds is the correct downpipe to turbo torque. The other is the heat shield. I had to look three times to catch it. Good luck.. Soak the studs and nuts in tri flow or some other penetrating oil for a day first. Trust me. O2 sensor is 22-36 foot pounds

Well it looks like I am going to need to buy some bolts. As hard as I tried I could not get it to squeeze in there. Thanks for the specs guys.

Don't forget to wrap that dp in some 'header wrap tape'. Wrapping it will help get engine heat out of the engine bay. I also noticed that it was cooler inside my car during the summer especially near my feet after I wrapped my dp.

Well I got my DP in tonight, only took me 2 days, and all I have to say is WTF. The damn thing does not fit for $hit. The way it sits now the whole exhaust is supported by the downpipe.
At the DP to Cat flange it is about an inch off, and this is after I took all the hangers off and wiggled it for 2 hours.
I finally got it to go but now I am afraid of breaking the studs/bolts at the turbos. I will be contacting Gotham Racing on Monday ad talk to them about getting another one
I have heard lots of ggod things about them, so I think this DP is just a bad one.
Has anybody else bought one, How was the fitment. Anyways let me know if anybody has.

I just got a midpipe from them for 100 dolllars. The fitment is awsome. It doesnt matter if the flanges arent exactly the same, as long as there is a seal and the gasket is there to, the flange could be a few cm smaller then the other one.

I found that they were very smart in making the bolt holes stretched out so the midpipe could be pivoted for a much much easier fit.

overall I was VERY pleased. such good craftmanship for 100 dollars.

The flanges were fine, its that they did not line up for ****. Now the Cat is pressed right up against the bottom of the car, not to safe, and makes for a funny vibration.
Like I said though I think this DP was just a fluke and I hope I can get another one.
I have to replace the bolts I put on the turbo side, the head is just a little to big, exhaust leaking a little bit, but I will take some pics and post them.

Has anyone else bought a Gotham Racing DP, and had fitment problems?
I think it is the stock Cat getting in the way of the floorpan.

Hope you get your problem solved, Rich, Steve and the rest of the crew at Gotham are awesome. I'm sure as Rich posted above you will be taken care of.

Alberto, the header pipe wrap is a great idea.

I've got one on my car now. Fitment was easy, slipped right on over the studs, fit great with the Gotham midpipe I have on there as well. I had it also with a Bonez high flow cat and fitment was the same.

Maybe there's somethin wrong with your stock cat for it to sit so off...

Its really no big deal, I was just wondering if any one else had any problems.
Everyone else who has posted though has also had the midpipe to go with it. I think my problem lies in the stock cat being to big. It is pressed right up against the floorpan and the exhaust system does not have as much play as it used to.
The only thing I am really worried about is possibly breaking the studs/bolt on the turbo. But I have been driving it for a week, 350+ miles, and no problems yet.
I gotta crawl under the car this weekend and change the oil, so I will check it out and see if things have possibly settled a little.
Anyways, like I said though great product, and I can definatley feel the difference, turbos spool quicker, and I can actually hear them now too.
Just a quick question though, is it typical to see a boost increase. I see about 9psi now, before about 7.5-8psi.

You might want to check your engine mounts. If they are badly worn, they will allow the engine to tilt forward thereby lifting the cat up higher. I notice this when I installed new engine mounts; there were less room b/w the firewall and the intake manifold now.

I'll check that out, but I think they are probably fine, there is not much drivetrain movement or anything of that sort.
Though it is a possibilty.
Thanks
