got some questions

i might buy a 1993 fd but the exhaust is broken...he said since the exhaust is broken there is no back pressure so when the turbo spools up the car falls on its face is this true or is there something else wrong with it?

There is obviously something wrong with the car. That's the first I've heard of an exhaust being "broken."

The only conclusion I can come to that makes sense is that the main cat (or pre cat) is severely clogged and thus creating a lot of back pressure and causing the turbos/wastegate not to work right.

Or that there is a huge hole in the exhaust causing overboosting and fuel cut.

even if it is something minor, it has to be pretty hard on the engine every time it falls on its face like that. Its either leaning out, or getting tto rich, or reaching to high of pressures. Any of which are bad for an engine. I would keep looking, try the for sale section on here, thats where i got mine.

don't just jump into this because you "really want this car"... it'll be more trouble than it's worth. find one in good condition and read the FAQ's about buying an FD.

do youself a favor DONT BUY IT or trade for it. Unless you want to spend the next 2 years banging year head against a wall. Go find yourself a good used one that works 100%. Spend the extra cash to get the used one and save yourself lots and lots of trouble!!!

If the exhaust is detached or has a massive leak between the engine and main cat, you could get excessive boost that causes the ECU to enable fuel cut. Fuel cut causes it to fall on it's face for a moment. It would also be very loud and probably stink like ***.

But I agree with the others - find another.

wound up blowing up after less than 5000 miles and 1 year of owning it.
tuned by.... your guess is better than mine!
but i love my car and if i new something was wrong with it, i still would have bought it just not for as much money as i spent!!

dont buy or trade until you get a compression test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!on any rotary
